Captains across the Galaxy, it is time for you to pick your favorite Faction to work with. This means either your favorite starting faction or the faction you seem to always keep good relations with despite your starting faction.
Also, could you please tell why you like that faction.

For myself, I always seem to end up friendly with House Thulun, even if I start with someone else.

I'm trying to keep up good relations with all so as to keep permits but it's not easy, trying to only take contracts against independents but some contracts are deceiving resulting in loss of favour with factions  |

I like starting with a Javat Explorer and making nice with Thulun, too. With those two semi-wild planets in the upper left corner and three metropolitan worlds a short hop away, it's easy to make some starting cash and rep.

I can't help it - every time I start, I make a point of trying to be nice to Steel Song, but it's like they have "Puh-lease SHOOT me" painted on their prow. It must be their flag - kind of symbolizing one whopping big target for me to take aim for.
But on topic ... I tend to spend a lot of time doing jobs for De Valtos cos they pay well and therefore must have kind hearts.

I usually end up being enemies with just about everyone after a while. So I voted Independent. |

I like Thulun for the same reason oldalchemist likes Javat - that upper left quadrant of the map is great for explorers. I always feel at home there. Things get weird when I start to branch out.
Recently I've been trying Cadar Zealots - can't make it past level 6 - too many enemies. Doesn't quite feel like home over there, and there are so many unfriendly factions located in the same area.
Thulun and Javat usually play nice to get rich, and you can even toss some extra artifacts to those poor backwards brutes from Steel Song..

Mostly the Cadar, and because everyone seems to have an unfailing hatred for them, which I find a bit amusing. Also, they were the first faction to kill me back in January, so its a love/hate relationship

I'd really like to see ship chassis styles homed to certain factions in future updates. That way, if you want a cruiser, you pick up a DeValos captain. If you want a Jango Class, you go for Cadar. If you want a Knife, Spear, or Terror, you get Steel Song. A sweet hauler? Javat. A battleship? Thulun. A stupid jerk pirate ship that makes you look like a dumb dummy? Rychart cornered the market on those.

oldalchemist -- we are totally working on this very concept. Military shuttle will be replaced by a ship menu that is built Faction specific and influenced by Rank.
