Hey all,
i finished MnB a while ago and have been playing with that runner in the NBZ. Now i have a team of three runners (not allies yet). And the Problem is that XP is coming in really slow. All three never get the 1XP after a fight (or escaping). All have some cyberware (round about 70DV each). Is this right this way? Its a real pain in the ass as collecting XP is redicoulusly slow.
Vin
PS: First time i followed Cava Saint, i hate the punk. He gives the very worst missions ever. Scttered over the whole map and every second missin is Parcel pick-up.

1. You are under no obligation to do any jobs whatsoever for Cava. All he cares about is your Fennian rep. If you want to take all your jobs from The Wet Bar and The Church of Saint Patrick, Southie, he won't care and will promote you just the same.
2. If you are trying to get lots of XP for your runners, then pick up and deliver is good for you. It's bad for cash but it gives you 2 points per mission rather than just 1.
So what I do when training runners is to head to Tuckmore's Saloon in Roxbury. Then I take missions from Tuckmore that are only parcel pick up and deliver around Roxbury, or take a package to Copley Square. I throw any other missions away, because the worst that can happen is that Los V will hate you and send gangers after you, and I eat LoS V gang members for lunch. You can take missions from the Gambling Den back to Roxbury, or while in Copley Square phone up Vinnie and get jobs there from him.
Stay out of KH land until you are ready for it. Stay out of taxis altogether. Spend your cash on a 3 or better yet 4 job computer. And then you just grind for a bit. While I am doing this I have my runners use no cyberware at all, but then I practically never train any runners except for Snipers and Martial artists. Once you get the Sniper the mk251 bounty and the martial artist the Yakashima Taser glove (both sold at Back Bay Importers in Old Kenmore) they can pretty much take care of themselves in Los V land after their second rest at a hotel, without any implants. If you are trying to keep a face or a hacker alive, then you may need to invest in more implants because they are so wretched at fighting.
70 DV is 23 and a third % of your XP that you aren't getting in exchange for abilities. If your runners are good enough now to not need it, you might want to pay to have them removed.
Also, be warned, that while you are having a merry time making Tuck Jr happy, your rep with the Streets will be going to hell. Street gangers (unlike Yakuza) are no harder to kill than Los V ones, but it can be a very rude surprise when you decide to go to Back Bay Importers and buy some bullets to discover you have made their public enemy #1 list.
Best of luck, let us know how it goes ...

Thanks sofar. I know that it doesnt have to be Cava but hes the one i can get jobs of over the phone. Got a 3 job comp and all have two mk251's or tazer glove. So the implants are stopping the xp sp badly. Didnt think it would affect that harsh. HHmm streets and LosV really really hate me. but as you said they are as dangerous as blind monkeys.

Gravling, who has LOADS more experience with the game than myself, has it right with the implants stuff. My tactic QUICKLY moved from implants to attribute skill upgrade first. After 3 mucked up test games I moved to the following priority schedule. 1) Stim up to 9+ 2) doctor up to 9 (the 100n-Y medkit is the only one I've seen that is cheaper per health than the doctors, and is relatively useless in combat) 3) get the best weapon you can for your money/experience levels 4) get the best armor you can for your money/experience levels 5) get a multiple job comp (2 is good 3-4 is better, there's a 4 job comp for 10k but I don't know where yet.) 6) prioritize your xp for either dex/stealth (my pref.) or athletics/brawling(Firearms)/AP when you're at 5's in all of this (10 in AP) 7) after ALL of that buy whatever implants you like. (one notable exception I make to this is dermal plating which is like 25 IDV for +1 Body, +1 Ballistics, +2 Deflection Which I consider to be worth the 8&1/3% chance of no experience point).
Your runners/allies should follow the same path as you. Which kind of dictates no implants until you're combat ready. (Note that the hackers dataport I is only 5IDV which is less than 2%)
Hope this helps.

Thanks Fallen, that "guest" was me, right before I decided to join the forum. I can see a couple flaws now that I wouldn't have put in, now that I'm two weeks, or so, more veteran than I was then.

onyxdrakkenblade - well, thanks for making a nice splash on the forum! You could also edit the list or just repost it, as that kind of advice is invaluable to a new player!

Ahhh -- in that case, you'd have to cut-n-paste and re-post, which I think is just fine.

I think I'll do that, on a new thread. So that it can attract the attention, more directly, of those it is intended to help.
