it cannot damage your phone. your back slides off so that you can replace your batteries. there is no dissasembling your phone. its just like taking the batteries out of your xbox controller. With my limited knowledge of electronics, I'd beg to differ. Phone batteries are different from your run-of-the-mill AA batteries. They are meant to be used for the phone's lifetime. Which is why iPhone does not allow users to remove its batteries (because you don't need to). Everytime you restart your phone, power surges through the circuitry that causes a "load" which induces stress. Doing it on a frequent basis destroys your phone's integrity. Try turning your bedroom light on and off, on and off. You'd notice that it will have a way shorter lifetime. Not to mention the garbled data generated from lost states that are recollected. Basically, it screws up both hardware AND software.

It is not necessary, or at least it wasn't a few releases ago, to remove a batter or shut the phone down to wimp out of a fight.

The more trouble reports we get, the better (that sounds bad, but you know what I mean.)
We are so willing to fix issues that come up and are fixable. Just keep us posted to what you're finding as we're going to work to make CK great!

This hasn't been reported to death yet? *pun intended*. A simpler solution is quitting the app. if i hammer on my androids (Samgsung Nexus S) back button until it dumps me out, then when i return to the game I am out of the battle... sometimes with a +1 extra karma... I was using this to avoid stupid combats.
I think i should test this by bailing out using my home button or switching apps... and generally every-way to task-swap out or kill the running application. or Powering down the phones screen without turning off the phone ... etc.
When the game returned to me standing in the same sport, i thought it was just a graceful save-state issue and thought nothing of it.
Addendum: For those testing this... it may be useful to track affected changes to heat, rep, and karma.

Tsueg - Hmm... come to think of it, I think I've encountered something like this. But I just thought I had won the combat anyway as I was working my ass off between the game.

All u have to do is hit the home button and use an app killer to kill it and it will then back you out like u haven't been in the fight. I figured it wasn't autosaving during a fight so it reverted to the last "solid" state.

nails - Er... so which is right? Resets to the state before the fight happens? Or exits the combat normally as though you won the fight?

I don't pay enough attention to things like karma, and I haven't done it for quite some time, but I seem to remember a loss of heat, but no other benefits except not dying.

I'll take a look at the back button report, that shouldn't get you out of a combat.
Using a task killer does the same thing that your phone would do if you needed to make a "911 Emergency Call" during a game of CK. Therefore, any type of resistance to task killing by any Android application should be stringently avoided!
Our games won't fight you if you try to task kill them -- they are good Android citizens and will die with honor, saving as much state as possible and getting out of the way of the OS.
I have not heard any reports about a back button issue (although, some rooted phones [or Google phones with developer options turned on]) do a "Task Kill to Foreground" if you "Long Press" back button. I have confirmed this on some of my devices.

The backing out of combat via app-killer (or back button? Didn't work for me...) issue does not seem to go back to a pre-fight state. I tried it, and found that whatever state of health or items you have at the moment you close, even in mid-combat, is the state it reloads. So, funny example. Guy with an uzi get me. Kills me, but has more rounds so the toast for 'defeat' doesn't come up right away. I closed the app. Reloaded. Zero health. Maybe its just me, but I'm not sure zombies are a part of cyberpunk lore? Cyber Knights definitely doesn't feel 'planet terror' enough for that to be the case.. not sure if this adds anything to the picture?

All accurate information. Star Traders and Cyber Knights both share a common goal but go about it differently.
I have added the zombie issue to the bug tracker.

I don't keep track of Karma. I find it best to just leave it alone since it would not affect my playing style (run away from everything to avoid even the most minute possibility of death). Edit: And what's this about Zombie? I say we keep it as a new playable Race! Radioactive Zombies are the bomb!

I went with with advanced task kill solution for dumping the game to test this. I noted that if I am down to neg HP and then kill the task ... when I return the game, I am still in the fight but with the HP before the hit... and then when the opponent is done attacking me again, the game drops the combat and I am back standing on the street.
no loss/gain of karma no loss/gain of rep no loss/gain of heat
have paid attention to bullet counts and HP/MP. ... ran out of time for my evening gaming session.

personally, i am playing on easy, so the real reason i have been using the cheat is so that i don't lose my place while working on the Knight's Bible. its a pain when i labeled the 32 areas starting with #1 at the top left. if i die, its POOF! right back to bottom left. (square 31) its quite a trip back, and simpler for me to use the exploit. but when i actually PLAY the game, the exploit is more of a pain in the butt, and not worth it to me. even if you worked a way out to remove that exploit, more would be found. especially since your games are getting more and more popular, there will likely be trainers, editors, and all kinds of hack-ish programs designed to do things you are not supposed to do in game. as a game genie/game shark/action replay owner, I can say, that when i was younger, i put in cheats before i even tried the game out. but now, i tend to use the cheats as a tool. (like if i missed out on an important item early in an RPG. If i cannot go back and get it, darn straight i will use a codebreaker to get it!) i hope that no one comes up with a codebreaker for droid. that would take away soooo much playability from the games.
