why not change the science ICON into a % full = % researched.... note that 90% would be at the bottom of the neck... its fullness an indicator of the tech that is closest to being done... and as an extra... if the NEXT turn will complete a tech... then show the beaker bubbling over
I do not want to wonder or check back every turn to see how long to complete a research

You could use the existing clock as either a clock or a pie chart if that is easier...

You could use the existing clock as either a clock or a pie chart if that is easier... Sorry, it really isn't. Dynamic buttons isn't something easily supported by our engine.

How about a msg in notifications; Predict completion of tech next turn. How would it help? We are getting requests to remove the turn-by-turn notifications about tech being not running. If you get a notification the turn before, you might add a new tech, but then as RP as split, you might not finish the tech the next turn. Esp when it comes to 4X Empires, we need to build smart and make sure that additions are improving the game, not further complicating it.

Hence the word predict / i would hope that most people can do basic math and dicide to spit or not to spit / and if they get hit by a solar war they will just have to wait a few turns.

The math really is simple, I do it all the time: If the RP required to finish the current tech is less than half the RP my economy is producing per turn, I start the next tech and the current tech will still finish in the same turn. And in many cases the half turn's worth of (otherwise wasted) RP thus saved, results in the next tech completing one turn earlier. The hard part for me, is remembering to check research progress often enough to keep from missing the last turn before completion. So I would appreciate would a warning of this type if it's not too difficult to implement. And one like chesspupil suggests would be considerably less intrusive than another message in the TURN EVENTS screen.

Interesting feedback! We'll discuss to see if we want to add it to the roadmap, but in terms of priority for things we need to add to the 4X game, I am not seeing it as high-pri compared to the existing list, especially considering the effort it would take to create an entire system for a dynamic button type.

I normally play for a few turns and off to something else, and would like the science progress to remain like the trade projects instead of disappearing.
