Cory and Andrew have mentioned many times that Star Traders is based on a pen and paper RPG that they created when they were younger. I'm just wondering what the rules were like. Was it a d20 system, d100, d6? How did you create a character? A Ship? Am I the only one who would love it if Star's Edge and World's Edge were released as tabletop RPG rulebooks?

You're not the only one by far The system is complete bespoke, using pools of D10s. Surprise, surprise lol. Maybe some day we will be able to do a KickStarter for it, but for the moment it would be a major distraction from staying in business.

But it could also be the next major step in TB games history and really bring in the bucks

Oddly I was just thinking earlier this evening how cool it would be if we could do some sort of ST RPG here on the forums.

But it could also be the next major step in TB games history and really bring in the bucks As mentioned above, analysis shows that pen and paper RPGs is really not a wise move for the company at this time Someday, perhaps!

Now you're just being mean smashing a young digi-sheeps dreams of what must be one of the best PnP games ever made fallen. Whenever you and your brothers are ready to try it, you'll have quite a few people ready to join you. We will wait for that time.

If TB Con even happens, I promise that I will run a game of Star's Edge, pen and paper edition.

Then the entire con would be taken up by one really long battle with everyone asking Cory Trese and fallen "how many dice do I roll again" haha. In all seriousness World's Edge is a great system and is easily my favorite system for fantasy themed campaign settings. However the depth and complexity of the system is both what gives it such great appeal to me as a player but also what turns off others. I didn't truly appreciate this fact until I tried running my own campaign using the World's Edge rules but with a more novice group of players. Some players really want the rules to be simple and low effort so that they don't overwhelm the story telling aspects of the game. With the richness and complexity of World's Edge this can be a challenge. World's Edge can be much better executed with automation which is part of why I think it has translated so well to video games. With a video game you can easily abstract away a lot of the inner workings of the system, making it more black box. The player benefits from the richness that comes from system complexity without the overhead of managing that complexity by hand. fallen You should post some pictures of the limited hardback run you did just to tease the forum goers!

No he shouldn't because then we'd all want a copy and have no way to get one...come to think of it I'm sort of hating you right now for telling us such a thing even exists lol

What? There's a hard copy for World's Edge? Maybe you can do a hard copy print for Patreons or Kickstarter Backers to buy?
