Question regarding tactics at ironman or higher levels: When you engage the first round - especially if you have the initiative - How do you reconnoiter or spot targets? Do you 1) move your tank forward as a "spotter" or 2) do you use something like Sly Look to break the fog of war? I like to move forward, but that is me. I play groups with very defensive talents when it comes to Ironman.

I usually probe the area a little bit with the tank, but I always try to end everyone's turn out of range of (even possible unspotted) ranged attackers. I rarely use Sly Look, but there are occasions where this is necessary. Later on you will have some extra movement points which makes probing easier. On the other hand you will encounter shooters with a range of up to 9.

I use sly look a lot. About 2 groups ago, I levelled it to 4 at around CoD and was thoroughly impressed with the results. Free to cast and such a big area revealed meant nothing could shoot me from the dark. It allowed me to know exactly how to position my party in the opening round and do maximum damage. I feel CoD this really needs to be done because there are some nasty things in the darkness that can end an ironman fast.

Having basically done the entire existing content, Krete archers are the most difficult chaff mobs by far.
