So the maximum number of strong dice is determined by the amount the ship 'soaks'? And all spares are standard dice?

Cory Trese fallen BODACIOUS Dudes! This thread will become so large throughout the alpha and beyond. Reminds me of the combat thread in HoS

That's very helpful. I actually thought that having 200% skill would be the maximum benefit. Thanks for clearing things up fallen

If you have 32 Skill Pool and Ship requires 15 (that is, 32/15) you are not getting 32 dice, only 15 Strong and 15 Weak. But you'd be better off installing some components to get up to 32/20 so you get 20 Strong and 12 Weak.

You said that if I have optimal staffing, without being overstaffed, it would give the most strong dice.

Brutus Aurelius - does seem like maybe confusion -- updated the Over staffed section again to try to clarify. Yes, 30/15 gets 15 Strong Dice + 15 Weak Dice, but you'd be better off installing a Pilot Assist module and having 30/19, therefore getting 19 Strong Dice and 11 Weak Dice. If you can't then 30/15 is as good as it gets.

[captain obvious:] In the scenario Fallen describes, installing the Pilot Assist module does NOT change the total number of dice, but changes weak dice to strong dice. Strong dice > weak dice.

Please excuse the noob, but what are strong and weak dice? Each action requiring a dice roll has a target number needed to generate a success with each dice rolled. Believe the dice used are D10 and the difference between strong and weak dice is that strong dice generate a success on a roll of 6+ while the weak dice only generate successes on rolls of 8+.
