There are Engines and Drives labled "E" which stands for efficient, if you're looking for cheaper travel. But the big discounts don't kick in until the next update with all these bug fixes for fuel use. Do you have a rough idea of when this update of bountiful bug-fixes is likely to appear?

I make getting a passenger cabin a pretty big priority for my merchants, as it seems that those multi-stop escort-a-diplomat missions pay pretty well. Especially when you have a diplomat officer that increases the pay out for missions by 25%.
After that, I generally will ditch some of my weapons for an extra officer cabin and maybe some explorer related upgrades. I dump short ranged weaponry and keep the torps, as my merchants only viable option in combat is the cut-and-run and, if that fails, torp it out or die trying.

What I am really loving about this game is that already there are so many different ways to play - and we all seem to be playing very different games Really inspiring for me to try out new captains/talents. I think my next captain will be range 1-2 autocannon gun bunny - if i can fit 8 autocannons on board

So many possible ways to play, down to the choice of officers and their jobs. Do you include a doctor, run prisoners, ... its only going to get bigger. I cannot wait to see players posting their builds -- "this is exactly how I spec my crew and ship and all my officers"

Same, bookworm21. The variety of ST2 is pretty staggering. I definitely see myself branching out on my play style, after getting a good grip on the merchant game, that is . I'm already dreaming up a Pirate/smuggler captain, and after that maybe going whole hog as a loyal courier captain and fitting out my ship as a passenger liner.

During the stream, Cory mentioned having to make it more stable first.
