I thought it would be useful to compile a list of contacts and what missions they typically provide. Please add on to it so no one picks the wrong starting contact for their job ever again!
Note: Most contacts will send you on delivery missions to start with (and even later on as well). The following is what their bread and butter are.
-- Politician: Escort quests and the rare Patrol mission. -- Prison Warden: Primary missions seem to be "hunt down and capture fugitive, deliver to face trial". I think you'll need a Prison Cell on board.
I'll be adding to the list as I play more.

We should be careful not to spend too much time on this now in the alpha, as they will change a lot between now and release. Let me talk to fallen about Wiki here.

Politician: Escort quests and the rare Patrol mission. These are due for radical changes. As long as the type of info you're gathering is nice and simple as shown above, I won't worry too much about wasted time. Please do not try to create exhaustive lists of missions that people are offering. With the upcoming Contact Goals rewrite that will drive missions, I would expect radical shifts in the coming weeks.

Oh, I assumed that it did from the description so I did not even try to take it. Sorry!
By the way, how are you supposed to transport a fugitive if you don't have a prison cell??

You can't transport a fugitive if you don't have a prison cell. I think that is the crux of the bug. If your ship is without a cell, this mission should reject.

Just to make sure that I understand you correctly, do you mean the mission should not have shown up at all if I don't have a Prison Cell already installed when visiting the Contact?

athios - sorry for all the run around. Re-read your post and confirmed in the code -- this is not a bug. I'm just bug happy!
