I forgot that crop harvesters are now trade permit restricted goods, so I brought some with me to a negotiation meeting on a Rychart farm world. I bought them on two different worlds. I think one was de Valtos and I am sure the other one was Independent. I expected there to be only one line for the crop harvesters, with the average price paid being used to calculate profits. I very much did not expect that Rychart would be paying me two different prices depending on where I bought the things.

grävlingI believe it is because you bought them at different per-unit prices, so it shows different profits for each stack.

Yes. I did not expect that. But I really didn't expect that the Rychart farmers would be saying -- now those over there, we will only pay 600$ a unit for. Those other ones we will take off your hands for 750$ a pop. Is that because the first stack is larger? At any rate it is confusing.

Could it be because one stack is from one faction and the other from another?

Ah, can you explain why they care? How they even can tell where I bought 'em? Even I forget most of the time....

This is a common phenomenon. Consider someone going to a department store to buy an electronic device. Two items look identical, but one is "Made in [country with high prevalence of shoddy/counterfeit goods]" and the other is "Made in [country with average trustworthiness]". Would you pay more for the second one? Some people definitely would.

Also, if you go to Status --> Cargo, it will list exactly where your goods were made (including ones that you pirated off another ship).

And here I believed you about ' wanting to keep the trading system simple'. I guess we had better stick little flags into the exchange screens. Otherwise you will drown in spurious bug reports again. But makes me think that the first thing a savy smuggler wants to learn how to do is how to fake a manifest so those shoddy Rychart goods look like the genuine item from de Valtos Enterprises ....

This is my idea of "simple" The idea of counterfeit goods ... wow, could be cool. Post release smuggler / shady trader feature maybe? Worth noting that many trade goods do NOT have a Faction. For example. Metal Ore is not Faction specific, nor is Raw Spice.

Love the post-release shady feature idea. Can we please get a column that indicates the faction specificity (or none) of an item. Otherwise all my pirate killing time is going to be spent explaining this to people in the forums come here to report that trading is broken .... I'll stop asking when I get a ticket number. You could stick 'quantity available' for sales, too, in at the same time.
