Definitely allowed. Very demoralized, expect abandon.

Yeah, he's about to abandon, mutiny, or trait trigger. Probably a lost cause.
Best bet is to try to spice on an indy world.

Tried an idie world, as one was close, but he ran as expected. Didn't have what it takes to be a Pirate, it seems. Interesting that Jet Pulvinar, with the 2HP took it all in stride ...

Haha! My zero morale E-Tech actually stuck around for quite a bit while I hyperwarped and flew around. I didn't know things had gotten so bad after a ship encounter. Luckily the Indy Tradeway I stopped at was a total dump (low stats on everything). I was able to Spice her back up to 60 Morale, and get her healed at another planet.
