Just want to bring up contacts for newbies. The starting contacts regardless of priority should all offer missions in my opinion. Contacts who don't offer missions are fine once you get going with game but for a new player giving them 1 or more that don't give missions at start may just confuse them as well as make their initial play harder. In addition; not to spread starting contacts too far apart. For example one might be 7 quadrants away from your starting quadrant. Essentially out of use for a long period of time, especially if the last jump is a long one into a dead end.

Ok, here is an updated Pirate Template. It's not far off of the existing one but it puts more priority on Resilience and Charisma which are both tested in Blockading. Currently they are abysmally low (8 and 14 I think). Also in the template below it might be more beneficial to put contacts up a notch and skills at the bottom. At priority D you get 4 skill points to spend. Another contact (Smuggler?) is arguably better.

contributor why raise Quickness at all for that template? I don't see the point of raising quickness for captains who aren't built for crew combat. It might be better to take the +6 Quickness and put those points into more Fortitude and Resilience.

Cross posting from a discussion on Discord with blessed. The Pirate template has Dead Aim as a starting Trait. That doesn't make much sense any more since he/she is no longer geared towards crew combat at all. Could that be replaced with something else like maybe Menacing?

We're hard at work to make Captain traits more unique and powerful.

I mentioned that one ages ago, so I guess it must be on the TB's list somewhere.

The Guardian Interceptor is a very bad ship to start with, especially for a beginner: its fuel range is very short and its starting crew too small to fill the stations at 100%. The Paladin Cruiser would be, I think, a better choice.
And on the topic of ships: the Juror Class is still described in-game as a long-range scout ship; but since its fuel cost on map has been doubled, its fuel range is now exceedingly short, so the description should be changed (and this ship avoided, IMO).
