If a Star Trader is, by definition, someone who has a Star Trader license and owns a ship, how can one of my officers take a second/third job as one? Is it just my wrong understanding of the term?
From the Talent set, this reminds me of the Captain (jack of all trades) profession in STRPG, but that name wouldn't work either. Maybe it's like the Crew Boss officer in STRPG. Or perhaps some other military/nautical title would work better.

Thanks for the feedback. We should try to avoid overloading nouns, and that one is particularly overloaded.
Yes, it is a jack-of-all-trades kind of job, but particularly good at crew management and missions.

I think it's going to come down to talents. If the Star Trader has some killer talents unique from Smuggler and Merchant, I can see it standing on its own. Shipbuilding/upgrading/trading talents? or perhaps a save talent that works for any mission related thing (Negotiate, Charisma, etc..)?
Just some thoughts.

One of the latest added Talents gives a discount on buying new ships.

It's difficult to think of a new name for this job... how about "Shipwright"?

This job has been renamed Quartermaster. Ship building Talents are migrating to Engineer.
