Yep, don't misunderstand. I wasn't criticizing the way things are being done. You guys are doing great and custom maps are a huge add. But like with many good things there are also some trade offs. The "shared space" of STRPG had some great things about it, and we might not see that to the same level in STF as we saw there (but that's no reason to go back!). I was only saying that including contacts in the seed so they also would be shared would be a huge step towards "splitting the difference" or getting the best out of both worlds.
I totally understand if it isn't possible. I saw immediately when I was typing above that it would have big repercussions on the story aspects of the game, that might not make it possible. I would add though, that if it were possible, I wouldn't see same characters, thus same story locations on the same map as being a terrible thing or boring. There's something to be said for trying the same thing from a different angle. If you want to change the location of everybody just gen a new map.

True contributor, but for someone like me who is using map layout as pre-determined knowledge to take a different angle on the game (harder level, different captain, etc..), it would kill replayability for me. Eh, positives and negatives. But as Cory Trese stated, the die was cast long ago. Let's launch this baby!

Pretty cool map, I'm going to dive into it but could be a comfy map to play the story assuming you don't make too many enemies...
