In Diablo I lost like 20 level 60 characters to enemies i never saw coming.
I like the rush of dying and the heartbreak of it all.
but that's just me. have already identified the design techniques i will use to bridge the gap.

like Nas?? =) Diablo...the Second one has stolen too many hours of my life...=) but in that period BATTLE.net was for elite people, most of all had a 56k connection...Impossible to play(tested XD) Ehi BG,you players to the end have founded a "KILL DECKARD" group,or similars??'cause it was necessary...=)
Returning to the thread,as Fenikso and Fallen said, obviously too much customization isn't a wise choice, but it's also true that Permadeath and higher difficulties(in ST and CK as in TA) are for Hardcore players...I consider myself a medium player,i like to play on Demanding, where things are difficult but not too difficult(and Permadeath is "enabled"),and i think i won't change the difficulty in my future captains... I add "currently"...if TB change this thing,i could make a try...=) I understand ur POV(as u i don't want Hyper-customizable games),but adding an option that only enables the Permadeath,i repeat, it isn't a bad idea...=)

Reminds me of the Trade War 2000 days. We only had 56k modems. It was also a game where you were playing others on line including having to " guard" your ships and worlds while off line.
I'd hate to have to go head to head with you guys on Star Traders! LOL

Imagine how long it took to try to download a very small jpeg when it was 400baum.

Wait, are we gonna have a grandfather's "back in MY days" talk?
If we are, in my days, phone lines are for phones and phones ONLY. You don't go sticking it up any random electrical appliances, especially one that heats up till it smells like a burnt toaster and makes f*beep*king beeping sounds.

Well put BlackGauntlet (at least your first post on this thread ) and thanks for the link to this thread. I'm glad to see there are others of my 1/10 group here. Anyway, for what it's worth, I'd like to see a hybrid to what's being discussed here. I still want dead to be dead, I just want the option to save along the way. That way if/when I die, I don't have to start at the beginning. I too enjoy the RPG aspect of developing my character. Thanks for posting gravling.

I appreciate everyone's input and I think that there are a lot of great posts on this thread and several hundred in the archives. I'll leave it to anyone who's really interested to read about the technical reasons why it isn't going to happen.
Thanks again for all your input and support!
(TA has NO permadeath at all.)
Consider trying another one of our games because we have worked on creating a broad spectrum of options!

(TA has NO permadeath at all.) Cory, could you repeat that? To my fallen and very, very dead Templars (Cap'n excluded)? ;D

You did that to yourself, you accepted the results of that level's attempts, right?

Fenikso- Er... are you talking about ST or CK? ST. Man, seriously, you do not want me to mess around other game's forums. I know where are my limits at being annoying ;D.
