Death save problem, newbie

Great game (playing on iPad) thank God for a great turn based party RPG.
My minor problem was that on my first game I played Normal and pumped up my captain’s Resilience to 30, thinking 70+30 = 100, but crew members still died. Then I realized, oh no, it must be the individual crew member’s resilience. 

1.  is there a maximum % on the death save? 
2. Does the % depend only on the crew member’s resilience or does the captain’s resilience help?

It uses the Resilience of the character rolling the death save, not the Resilience of the captain.

Personal Resilience and Traits only.

Watch out for Traits that add or subtract.
