This idea came out of our Discord's private backers/patron channel (https://discord.gg/tresebrothers), but its too good not to post and try to rally some players around it to see if it can be done! Small Ship to Prize ShipIn this challenge, you must start the game with a ship in the 2400 Mass or 3400 Mass category. You must also start the game as either a Military Officer, Pirate or Zealot profession. You can start the game on any difficulty, but props clearly going to permadeath players. During play, you can do anything you want to accrue wealth and experience. However, you may not purchase a ship that is above the 3400 Mass class. You may install as many upgrades in your small ships as you please. Your Captain must reach Job Rank 15 and then train in one of the Prize Ship Talents from their starting Profession -- Fanatical Court (Zealot), Military Tribunal (Military Officer) or Murderous Tribute (Pirate). Once you have a Prize Ship Talent at the ready, your final goal is to find and engage a 8000 Mass or 9000 Mass enemy ship involved in a Conflict that will allow you to use your Prize Ship Talent. That means you are hunting Harbinger Carriers, Broadswords, Warhammers, Aegis Freighters, Cautela Titans or Sword Battlecruisers. Once you have defeated and captured this massive ship with your small ship, use your Prize Ship Talent to claim the ship as your rightful spoils of war. Remember, Shalun favors the brave. Please post here if you're picking up this challenge! Then post some screenshots and brag about your difficulty if you made it

I've been playing a Military Officer Cadar captain for 2 days now. I figured if I hung around Cadar Planets enough, the Call of the Strong unlock would drop for me. So far, no luck getting the drop. But I have 3 times made it to level 15 and then promptly been killed by Xenos in a ship. I am up for this challenge and will ḱeep people posted. Good luck other competitors! Hmmm, I have been starting with Galtak Freighter, too. That's too large for this challenge, I see. Ok, start with a Juror.

How do you know if you have enough money to claim your prize, and what happens if you are just that much too short in cash?

Should list that under the Talent icon in results. All the requirements are displayed in game, but you can also see them here. Only limited ship types by conflict, require Edict or Rank by Conflict, etc. startraders.gamepedia.com/Prize_Ships

I think you misunderstand my questions.
1. What happens if you capture a ship you want to claim, but don't have the necessary cash to buy it? I assume when you try you fail. 2. How can I tell what a ship is worth? How its captain has outfitted it must have some effect on its price.
I don't want to go to the effort of capturing a ship and discover that I am $40 short of being able to claim it.

1. You cannot capture it. 2. Value of ship uses the standard sale of ship price -- that is, combining cost of all components.

FIRST.
Difficulty chosen: Impossible Template chosen: PirateProof of the deed: [1]; [2]; [3]. It's been a pretty fun run, I have to say. Looking forward to the next challenge!

Congratulations! All I have to show so far are dead captains. What were you flying when you accomplished this?

Congratulations! All I have to show so far are dead captains. What were you flying when you accomplished this? The glorious ISS Albacore, a heavily modified Palace Interceptor filled to the brim with Defence Matrixes and a Sensor Array. x4 Torpedo Launchers too, just to make 'sure' I get to capture stuff without destroying it. It still happened from time to time, but thankfully not in that Broadsword fight!

Uuuufff, my first run didn't go well. The first ship I ever fought was a Broadsword 125% my level and then the next one was a Warhammer at 122% my level. That was even before getting the prize ship talents just leveling up.

With Vytautas Giedrairis aboard, having just freed him from prison, we are stopped. I seem to have lost the first screenshot at turn 1. But I have more ... The Runesong is not in the wiki, but that has _got_ to be a big enough ship, no? And we have a nice solar war on with Steel Song. This has got to be one of the classic combat combinations. Special Steel Song big ship vs Special Cadar tiny one. Going rather well, wouldn't you say? Wait! Where is my Military Tribunal talent?!? <looks at the faction screen. screams> WHAT IDIOT in the SYNDICATE LEADERSHIP DECIDED THAT THREE DAYS AGO WAS THE TIME TO MAKE PEACE WITH STEEL SONG?
