Seriously, I have no idea what to write in this piece of hi-tech drek they call a Cyber-Logger.
Anyway, since all cadets of the Knight Horizon Corps are required to log in our thoughts and explanations on our actions after each mission as a form of evaluation on our psychological health (part of a wondrous healthcare plan, I was told), we were told to write as candidly as possible.
So, it seems that, other than keeping us in tip-top physical, they're also doing daily checks on our mental well-being as well. How we go about with our physical fitness? Dunno yet, chummer. It's just the 1st day.
And being the 1st day, everything's a new experience to me! And loads to write about. We all had to go through a series of fitness tests, gene tests, IQ tests, reflex tests, stress tests, perception tests and even a testes test. Yes, turn our heads and cough with our ballsacks firmly in the grasp of a rather attractive bespectacled Dr. Nya Faridha.
After that, we were brought to a briefing room where we got this Cyber-Logger to jack into our Dataport. All the words you see now are transcribed automatically (yes, even the parentheses and italics!). Then an introduction about the Knights Horizon, our mission and ideals. There is a 2nd part of the introduction which will be played to different vocations separately, because it will differ slightly based on our levels of understanding (i.e. scores from our earlier tests).
Each Department's representative Officer-in-Charge were introduced by KH's Head of NBZ Contingent; MG Shafiq Irkam, standing abreast with each other.
First, Chief Intel (Top secret stuff)- Col. Yusuf Fahdlan. Then followed by:
Chief Ops (Tactics/strategies)- Lt. Col. Kamal Abhaddin
Chief Sig (Comms/Networks)- Maj. Aziz Bhakar
Chief Logs (Transport/Stores)- Maj. Abu Farid
Chief Med (Welfare/Augmentation)- Lt. Col. Kareem Mohammad
Chief R&D (More Top secret stuff)- Col. Jabbar Mahmoud
The Chief Med, whom is also the Evaluator, then took centre-stage and began calling out names of top scorers to stand before the Chiefs of the depts that they are assigned to. As trainee Officers.
Those that scored "mediocrely" (and I meant to say, REALLY WELL, considering that we all grew up eating garbage on the streets on NBZ while being oppressed by those bloody Bravestar bigots), including myself, were told to wait for the Sergeant Major. We are now Cadets.
Finally, there are those who didn't make the cut, which is about 95% of the crowd (248 of us were selected, I was told, from a group of about 5,000 Street kids). I felt bad for them. We all had the same dream. To sign up with a Megacorp, look out for our families, and bring home some REAL food from Neo-Kansas or Newer Orleans instead of SynFood.
As the room cleared out of Officers and failures, the Chief Med looked at me and shook his head mumbling, "What a pity..." Now, only we- the grunts, were left. And in comes the RSM to show us some Regimental stuff and distributing us each a list of places to go for kitting, training/duty schedule and also our bunk allocations.
Lots to do now, logging out!

Phew! Finally! Yesterday was a whirlwind of activities... getting a decent KH-approved haircut, bright red uniforms, armors & armaments, drone-control instructions manuals, survival kits and training data files...
Supposedly, all the places I got my stuff from (except the uniform), are actually privatized. Meaning; any Tom, Dick & Harry could just walk in and come out with one of our standard-issues. Of course, while we get paid to bear these arms, Tom, Dick & Harry had to PAY to bear our arms.
In the evening, right after our sumptuous dinner, we had a welcome party/speech by Chief MP (as in Manpower). The bulk of us new recruits are directly under his control; patrolling, training and augmenting ourselves till we are finally ready to become Specialists in our own right.
Our Hierarchy are extremely militarized as opposed to Bravestars whom are trained to be more like fat, useless cyborgs sitting in their hover-cars chewing on donuts baked from synthetic flour. Do I sound as though I dislike, no HATE, the Bravestars? Well, why shouldn't I, nay, WE be?
These Boys-In-Blue had been in charge of NBZ's "Homeland Security" for so long that they THINK that NBZ is their actual Home, with them being the obnoxious drunken father and everyone else in it are their red-headed stepchildren; waiting to be whipped by their batons for even breathing the same air.
Oh, no you fraggers. The day the Knights marched in, is the day the New Sun shone across the Horizons. You will be put into the shadows where you belong. And I will be part of the group that put you there.

Well, THAT was interesting. I just came out from the Advanced Tactical Analysis Re-enacment Initiative program. Don't ask me what's the acronym for that. We just call it the Playground. Remember those training data files I got on my 1st day? Turns out those were some serious mind-altering drek! We just had to upload them into our Cyber-Logger, jack it into our Dataports and WHAM! Instant war veterans! I could handle literally every single damn weapon that the NBZ offers to kill/cripple/KO anything that moves.
However, not all were receptive to these data. Take Malik for instance... it seems that not everybody could handle a real war. That poor son-of-a-gun is receiving intense psycho-treatment till all the training data in his brain could be deleted. That's like ALL the wars ever to have happened in the world, down to the smallest blood-curdling detail.
This program will dictate if we remain Recruits a little longer, remain in MP division forever as a desk-bound office boy, or become a PFC- footsoldiers/grunts ready for action.
Again, the Evaluator (aka Chief Med) looked at me strangely but he was smiling this time instead, as he peered up from his holo-tab. "Y'know, ma boy, it is a pity you didn't make the cut for Officer. Other than your IQ and physical strength, all your other traits were something I have never seen through my career. And now, I'm glad to offer you the chance to be the Specialist among Specialists; the KH Elite."

Is this thing on? Ahem...
Well, if the Evaluator is accepting suggestions, there's this one thing: Although the NBZ is illuminated and heated (at a comfortable temperature of 24 degrees Celsius) by UV Sun-lamps, our uniforms are COOKING US! I'll bet those borged-up freakshows in Bravestar would have some kinda implant shoved up their ass that keeps them cool in THEIR uniform.
Anyway, about our earlier mission. Some peacekeeping in our territories. Nothing much. I think the explanation our Squadron Leader; Sergeant Farid Aziz, gave us on our uniforms was true to some extent: "When we have inspired enough fear, just the sight of our uniforms will keep them away. Make it bright red, so they can't miss it. A flawless victory is one where you win without a fight."
So, other than inspiring more fear by gunning down some errant Cyber-Knights with our drones (for looking at us funny), there wasn't much to do, really. From what we gathered with all these dead CKs, it seemed that there is some kinda large plot coming in to NBZ soon. Maybe even larger than KH ourselves (which is pretty damn MEGA-big).
Rumors, filtered down from the top to us, were that one of the Mega-Corps was planning something huge. So big that it stretches out of our dome. Kidnappings, experiments on live humans, discoveries of cybernetic & organic sub-human carcasses in garbage dumps...
We have no idea who were responsible and we, as recruits, do not question. Whenever we get reports of such nature, a higher-ranking response team: the KH Elite (Yeah, the one I was offered to join upon the higher Authorities' evaluation), would be activated. Again, what happens next is anyone's guess....

TGIF! Today is the last day of our short run as Recruits. A privatized army could not keep too many babies for long anyway. Also, with the training data (equivalent to DECADES of fighting experience), we really don't see the need for more of those stuff.
After tonight, we will have the weekends to enjoy ourselves. On Monday, our ragtag 21st Battalion (there are actually only 20 Battalions in NBZ, the 21st is a temporary nursery) would be disbanded. All of us would be sent to different postings as Cadets Proper or Specialists.
Before that, however, at 1800hrs... our fates will be decided. Will I really be posted to the Elites? From what I gathered, talking with our RSM, the Elites are the Endgame. The last ones to enter and the only ones to exit. The Crimson Reapers. Whatever you call them, people fear them. With the exception of Yakashima's "Mystical Four", no other teams inspire more dread and terror than the KH Elites.
Maybe one fine day, if I do get into the Elites, I will do something about the Mystical Four. Particularly their leader, the Azure Dragon, and his raving lunatic of a sidekick, the White Tiger. Come to think of it, why stop there? If you're not the best of the best, you'd die like the rest.
Logging out.
