I've got high rep with a Chaesin, and she's cured three negative traits for me, but my frontline blade fighter's Crippled isn't showing up (another crew member's Addictive Tick did show up on the same visit). Having Crippled on your tank is a bit of an inconvenience.

Having Crippled on your tank is a bit of an inconvenience. That would be because Gestalts cure Crippled. Not Chaesin startraders.gamepedia.com/Trait_Conditioning

Some do, some don't. I think every Gestalt and Chaesin draw a random subset of traits they'll handle. That wiki list is incomplete in some ways.
In my current game, I have a Gestalt Explorer and a Chaesin Researcher who intersect in 6 traits, and are disjoint in 5 and 5, like a Venn diagram. They both cure Crippled, Flashbacks, Hyperwarp Sickness, Hypochondriac, Maimed, and Weak System. And they're both different from two others in my previous game.
It's kind of fun this way. You can invest some effort to cultivate multiple Trait guys all over the map, and then take your new crew on rehab tours as needed. That's more interesting than having your starting Contact cure everything.
