New Rumour ideas ( both good and flavour)
There has been a flood of rumours going around at [planet x]
- planet has higher rumour range
- planet literally has a higher number of rumours (real and advice)
- spy available
There has been a swarm of independent pirates harassing local security at [sector x] and the prince has paid nearby salvage companies to increase the salvage prices of Indy ships with hopes of attracting outside help
I certainly know where I'd be going if I was looking to make some fast cash!
- increased Indy encounters in sector
- increased chance of encountered ship being weaker Indy pirates (lower end ships, lower level etc)
- double salvage values for Indy ships in/near that sector
There has been a bounty put on a low-ranking government official working at [planet x]. the people giving the bounty are unknown, but everyone knows that the target has been trying to return government to democracy, and everyone knows who wouldn't like that!
- chance of encountering a ship with an independent bounty target (via patrol)
- large credit reward for destroying the bounty target
- bh available
- it is hinted that the bounty was made by corporations, but is not said directly
There has been large storms, radiation leaks and other natural phenomena occurring at certain areas in [wilderness planet x]. Cache in the those areas are likely to remain untouched even after the natural phenomena has ceased, most likely due to superstitions of treasure hunters that the areas are possessed with evil spirits
- Using the cache operation on the planet while the rumour is in effect will make your cache on the planet more protected by treasure hunters after the rumour is over for a long period of time
There has been a widespread civil war over on [planet x] due to escalating unrest, poverty and inequality and all military personnel normally providing planetary security has been called in to help with the riots
- significantly decreased urban security resulting in easier docking, blockading and spying on the planet
There has been sightings of damaged space hulks seeking refuge over at [wilderness planet x]
- similar to how the alien attacks rumours increase alien encounters, this rumour increases hulk encounters (over the planet's orbit)
- encountered hulks will have a lower level than normal
- increased chance of finding artifacts for explore (but not as much as dark age technology rumour)
- great opportunity for those trying to get space hive rumour)
The Prince at [planet x] has been looking to pardons and other palace offerings as a source of credits to help him provide more to his supporting corperations.
- Double to triple price for pardon, permit, warrant and military rank at that planet
- Higher rep needed for closed palace and pardon unavailability (even more with political officer)
- Lower rep needed for permit, warrant, and military rank
There has been a recent spice theft heist over at [planet x] and they have closed the spice hall to off worlders indefinitely
- closed spice hall
- pilot available
There has been a worker strike at [planet x] causing a flood of additional contracts at the hall, palace and military dock
- increased contacts at hall, dock and palace
- increased pay for contacts
There has been a major Templar blockade strike executed against [planet x] due to the planet's "lack of cooperation" and attempts by the planet's military to remove the blockade by negotiation or by force has been futile.
- Huge chance of encountering blockading hostile ships over the planet's orbit or when trying to land.
- Chance of encountering Templar ships. Templar ships are more powerful than ordinary star trader ships and their captain is at a higher level (similar to aliens). Their ships cannot be taken.
- Surrender to Templar ships provides a greater than normal chance of captain HP loss and other negative penalties.
There has been a great meteor storm in [sector x]. Avoid the area if you value your ship.
- High chance of very severe accidents in sector (high engine and sail damage, hull damage etc)
- Significantly increased fuel consumption flying through sector
- similar to how radiation storms hurt captain and crew, meteor storms hurt ships
- Cooperations these days may be powerful, but they're not invincible. For example, during the Templar wars, some corporations refused to fund the Templars. Once the war was over, the CEOs paid for it, with thier heads!
- Josh Zitovsky. Remember that name. He was the one who stole the Narvadian technology used for our ships in the first place, and his name will most certainly come up if you're ever negotiating with a xeno over the preferred method of your and your crew's death.
- They'll come a day when everyone will be fed up with this life, and they'll rise up and overthrow the governments and the aliens and the traditions and the corruption and the bs and everything and start a new life. Best be prepared for that day, because it's getting closer and closer every minute.
- There is no such thing as Destiny. Everything is controlled by our divine ruler, Shaulan. It is his will that determines whether you survive a mutiny, win a duel, or encounter an alien.
- My son was killed from the rigors of deep space, but I'm still flying, and I'm not complaining.
- Vodka and spice, that's what spacers live for! Even the military officers, though they're too darn proud to admit it!
