Hmm I'm not sure if this should be a Bug or an Award. I just lost about -450 Rep on one Faction in a single hit. I now have minus 427 Rep with my home faction, Thulun, and I am a Legendary Criminal. W00t! The trigger was selling $235,050 worth of Spice into a Cadar shortage, violating a Thulun Faction Embargo against Cadar. Captain is L10 Smuggler on Demanding. And I lost my Trade Permit to boot! I only mention it in case the Shalun Law needs a little recalibration, if you get my Droid.

Did you steal that spice right out of your Prince's personal supply? Holy moly!

That is awesome!
(I think it probably needs an award it's so awesome.)
If Shalun Law produces these results I am completely AGAINST changing it.

If a rep swing that big happens, you really ought to get some kind of toast about how the Thulun Prince has a personal vendetta against you.
Captain's Log 72.41: I really screwed the pooch today.

Yeah, no kidding.
I've seen rep swings of 30-50 in a shot.
(usually literally in my case: "Captain, we can't shoot that contract target up. He's flying Cadar colors." "Arm the torpedoes, Cadar honor requires that we greet him in an appropriate manner." *following a sequence of explosions on the target ship, spelling out "Hey, how ya doin'? I'm good, you good?" in morse code* "Ummm, Captain, we sort of shot all his engines away, what now?" "Oh, burn the ship, steal the cargo, enslave the crew, standard procedure, I'm sure the big-shots back at Cadar HQ will approve my actions" . . . . . . .. *Rep drops 40-50 points*)
But I've never even heard of a 450 point drop. I'm in awe.

spike Merchants. They don't blow up stuff, but they still make people mad. I can now see how a combination of early phase trade war, high economy planet, and a shortage of a military good (Spice, Water, Rations, Metal, Crystals) could cause huge, immediate reputation drops. Your Captain essentially saved the Cadar war effort by supplying the exhausted spice halls of Cadar Prime with the critically needed space drugs for keeping Crews happy. We of the proud Thulun House, we shake our fists at you. Travel our space no more, turncoat! * * * I think it might need to be reduced ... but it happened to me and my reaction was "SWEET I am famous!"

Yeah me too! I thought, if my own home faction wants to make a criminal out of me for showing a little commercial initiative, well I'll just show them what a real criminal is like. My Rep with my former homeworld is now down to -580 and falling fast.

I just experienced the same experience, but it was even worse. I went from +360 with Cadar (my home faction) to -385 because I went to Rychart (in Trade embargo with Cadar) and sold 72 Ancient Tech units during an ancient shortage. I made a BUNDLE of credits, (close to 350,000). What was wrong though was that I lost my trade permit, but kept my military rank (Rank 18). I was flying along minding my own business when a Cadar warship comes along. I get the prompt for "Acknowledge" because of my rank, so I choose that and ... "YOU ARE DEAD". no warning. no battle. no imprisonment. Just "you have been killed and your ship has been donated to charity (and other such verbiage). Very annoying. Still, hopefully I hold the record for loss of rep now I think Spike is keen to beat me tho.

So now we could have a new reward: "Black Sheep Achievement"; go from Star Hero in your faction to Criminal Mastermind in one transaction. It could also be called the "Sold your Soul", "It Was Worth It", or the "At Least I Have Chicken" Achievement also.

It's okay - gave me a chance to plunder anew ... I hate you for making such an addictive game. My wife isn't overly impressed with you either!

Nah ... only got one Android device. It was hard enough wrestling my phone back when I got her to try Angry Birds! ST RPG is almost open-ended so I'd never get to play the game myself if she got hooked.

Maybe a political officer should give you a more explicit warning when you are about to make a trade that is more than just a little rep loss. "Sir, you realize that the repercussions of this trade are apocalyptic, right? I'd like to apply for a transfer."
