So I was using the Storm Sails upgrade on my previous ship, which is supposed to protect Sails from storm damage. I also had around 35-50 Maps in hold. To be honest, I haven't really noticed any difference compared to without these.
Do Storm Sails only protect against rumor-related storms that affect an entire sector? They seem to do nothing to reduce damage from regular sailing accidents (assuming there is only one kind of accident and many flavour text descriptions). If this is the case, the upgrade is pretty weak, and I doubt people are going to be using it.
Same issue with the Maps. I'm not noticing any improvement compared to without (e.g. I can still occasionally get 3-5 sail damage going between Dunbar and Dunbeath). Have I misunderstood what they do? Do they just cut down on travel time?
