If I may ask, do we have any timeline on an expected IAP release? I'm quite interested to see what you guys come up with.

Well you guys never do anything half-way, huh? I'm excited, regardless of what it is I'll probably pick it up when it's out!

I wanted to add one more thing to my earlier post on IAP content:
When you create premium campaigns, please add more backstory and a proper ending! I like finding out more about the templars, xenos and what those Narvidian artifacts are all about.
When I completed "Secrets of the Dark Age", I couldn't wait to dive in to the newly unlocked campaigns to see if I could hunt down that crazed Captain Malloc and his scary "Artificer's Gauntlet". Half a dozen campaigns later, I have not seen any hint of his fate or story. That's a bit of a letdown.

Cyrus - thanks for the feedback. We will endeavor to add that extra backstory to all of our content, not just locked campaigns. The story of Captain Malloc was never finished, though the following campaign sits dusty on the to-do list. Sorry, I will try to pick that back up!

I agree - I do want to meet up with Malloc again and see if I can't wipe that smarmy grin from his face ... ihihihihihih!

Thanks for publishing this Cory. It seems like the IAPs are going to be limited to award unlocks for Star Traders. Reading it I started feeling a little like "man I worked so hard to get everything unlocked and now somebody can just plop down 5 bucks and have it all." Of course then I remember that what I liked was finally toasting a Heela alien or finding a Hive I could defeat, or the mad rush of Rapid Rank III. Those things could never be sold. I did notice that there were more starting ships, more rank ships and more upgrades in the "Unlocked" version. Does that mean that there is content that you can never get unless you pay for it? What are these things?

That is what you get for killing the aliens, or whatever. You can Unlock it via the IAP or the same way as before. Nothing in that regard is new or change in any way. And even after you buy the IAP, you will still have a fully functional Unlocks screen that keeps track of your accomplishments. You'll get all the upgrades and still get the rush of eventually getting each award

The only award I'm missing now is the 10,000,000 credits award. But I'll have it before too long. I guess when you get flack for this and people say you made the award difficult on purpose so people would have to unlock it you can always say that at least some people have everything unlocked without paying for it.

There were a ton of complaints from casual users in the past where they demanded an option to unlock all of the locked features because THEY were the game player, and Cory wasn't listening to how THEY played. There were quite a few abusive comments accompanying the threads. This way, these few in the minority can get what they want ... while the rest of us can continue to enjoy the way the game works as is

slayernz - it is also good to remember that the overall play population of Star Traders is nearing 700,000 folks. We have received an immense amount of feedback on many channels (email being, by far, the largest) about things we could to do to make Star Traders better or about how people want to play the game. The Unlock All IAP is designed exactly as you say -- if you want to spend the 50-60 hours to unlock all of game content, you are welcome to. If you want a shortcut, it just costs a few dollars. Thanks again for the discussion, all!

Only Andrew would need 50 hours to unlock ST.
Oh man, that gave me the giggles.
On a serious note, I have accepted the fact that no matter what we do there will be some people who are strongly opposed.
This was true of Unlocks two years ago.
This was true of the Elite edition three years ago.
It will be true for this IAP we are adding to ST.
If the Unlock IAP performs well, we might consider adding a second one, which would be the "Ship Editor" everyone keeps asking for.
