Booted back to main menu when selecting a specific talent

I noticed this from time to time, but thought I'd actually test it more thoroughly.

I got booted back to the main menu whenever I select the following spells:
Phalanx Shield I
Sacrifice I
Torrent of Steel I

No FC ... I can go straight back into the game, but each time, I select the talent above, it is an automatic boot back to main menu.

Each of the party are level 6, and my phone is:
Samsung Galaxy S4
Version 4.2.2
