Dear Cyber Knights,
Soon, your Escort jobs will include a weak, low AP, and low Athletics "Mark" who will join your team during combat. Your Mark will make it very hard to Escape a combat and if the Mark is gunned down (HP or MP loss) you will fail the Contract and suffer double to triple the Reputation loss of a cancel.
Life just got harder, but the money needs to get sweeter.
How much more do you think an Escort job should be worth? Today the base price of an Escort job is 500 - which is then modified significantly (multiplied by factors as large as 0.5 to 2.4) by the enemy Faction, and then modified by distance, your Reputation, and security ratings of the involved regions. Let's just say - its base is 500.
What do you think the new one should be worth?
Also, there will be a new type of Escort job in which you are given a capable Mark, something like a Hardened Escort, in which your Mark is armed, has decent AP and Athletics, but if he/she dies then you are in the same boat upon Contract failure. How much is this worth in comparison?
These Marks aren't joining your team, so you can still have a team of 4. They appear only if you get into combat.

Lamb chops are getting more expensive these days, 1000 minimum sounds good to me for marks that can't fight. If they have their own weapons and skills, maybe these jobs should start out less, like 250, since your getting a temp fighter on your team.
WAIT?! Did I say lamb chops are getting expensive? OH NO, I've gone Hannibal the cannibal on myself!

I think that a base price of 50K per gangland + Ox territory you have to travel in + 100K per KH, BS, or Yakuza you have to travel in + 200 for each corpland territory you have to travel in is reasonable. Add a serious Blue Ox Bonus for transports into and out of their zones (but not between them) for crossing the wall, and you will be about set. I am of two minds as to whether you also want an 'exceptionally long journey bonus', because the longer you are with the mark the more likely you will be jumped by _somebody_.
Don't assume that CKs will take thopters, or boats when calculating things -- so if there is a way to do that which is safer (or faster). the knight just gets all the benefit for doing it the safe way.
Before this goes in, I would like it if the way to cancel an escort job, leaving a mark stranded went in. 'Lady, I don't care who is after you, there is no way I am going to Mars Core, and that is final'.
Also, I want the ability to equip the mark with one of those damage absorbing Michelin Man suits, and, more importantly, get the suit back when the job is done.

fallen OH YES PLEASE ! I want to see that ! I don't think you should change anything about money for the capable mark, but you should add between 250 and 500 creds for a incompetent one, depending where it should be brought (corpoland or gangland ; their survival rate will not be the same in one or the other).

question -- will the mark be able to use stims and medkits? What about nano armour?

grävling fallen I was also wondering ; would their stats resets after each battle, will we have to heal them in order to keep them alive or will we have to escort non-healable blokes through the NBZ ?

I'd like to see the Marks kept simple. They are clientele of all sorts, but they aren't interested in putting on armor, having cybernetics implanted, or any of that jive. If they aren't a hardened Mark (i.e. already armed and armored) then they are paying you to transport them safely without having to put up a fight. Even the soft Marks would come with some armor, but nothing military. They could use Stims and Items, but no I don't think they could put on Nano-ready.
I am pushing toward the ability to cancel most jobs from your computer, however, this will come with a very painful Reputation bonus in the cases of many jobs, as you are essentially ditching the Mark, package, data file, etc.

fallen They could use stims and items... but only in battle ? If they only appear then, there will be no way to make them use it when things calmed down, will there ? =/ I don't think also that you could give them better equipment ; they are not here for that, they are not runners. Cancelling a job from your computer could, for example, have a worse reputation malus than doing it directly with the connector but you would keep packages and cargo (like for the upcoming smuggling jobs) that would otherwise return to the connector. I think this would explain the reputation increased loss.

fallen, I agree that a K.I.S.S. system is a good idea. If someone can fight on their own, why hire a knight. I think that with a "harden mark" a good way to go would be to make the chance for hostile encounters much greater. They expect an attack to happen but know they can't fend it off on their own so that is why they hire a knight. Perhaps for every fight you have on the way would determine the bonus in pay you get. One type of escort job I think would be neat, is to take some one to a clinic or hospital that is losing MP or health until you get them there. You would have to heal them with your own supplies during the trip. The ability to cancel a job anytime would be a cool new addition to the game dynamics. The kind of situations where you might need to make this choice could be very interesting.

If I were a senior level Corp official, I would be interested in making a different sort of armour you can buy or use. Lots of Ballistic and Deflection absorbtion. But _slow_ _slow_ _slow_. It's a cargo container that can hold valuables -- including people. It has wheels. You have to push it from point A to point B. (So, no kidding, the taxi companines can see when you are escorting!).

Every one that has played CK has seen what those brothers did to Congress Taxi company. CK just got a lot harder, think I'll go hunt morels for the next few weeks

Hehe, we've digressed into cyber carts. I think it sounds good that Hardened Marks would keep the same price and soft marks would go about 150% to 175% up. Bohrson - interesting question about the ability to heal them after combat. Perhaps they do need to appear on the team, but that impacts a ton more interfaces and becomes much heavier. The simplest case is that they would join every combat at 7 HP / 7 MP.
