We have a gazillion new things in AoP, and a lackluster rulebook. Can we get an update?
I'd thought what I'd do, was pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes- Catcher in the Rye/G.I.T.S SAC

Well I didn't mean immediately... more like just after immediately I'd thought what I'd do, was pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes- Catcher in the Rye/G.I.T.S SAC

abysmal - something specific in the game you think would be highest priority?

I'd be happy to share the manual in a collaborative environment for updating, that is how ST's documentation was created.
As you say, we always produce something lackluster without help.

Imo, the rules are very very similar to the Star Traders rules. Explaing attributes and skills would be good. In addition, we have a dozen newer factions instead of the 6 that were initially present. The type of cargo is a really big thing too. Perhaps near the trading section a X=1 unit should be put there for easy reference.
But definitely factions, cargo rules, ship and captain stats. It's easy if you are a veteran ST'er but if this was your first game you are clueless.
Oh yea... screenshots!!
I'll edit this as I compare the ST manual to the AoP manual.

I would really like a section called: Problems or something like that.
Problem: My crew always mutinies on me. Solution: Improve your Intimidate skill. Carry (how many?) luxury rations and (how much?) rum. Description of how these 2 things factor into preventing mutinies. If you are a low level character, you may not have the ability to control a very large crew -- sell the ship and buy something that is smaller and requires fewer people to man. Problem: I keep running out of food. Solution: First of all, stop trying to sail directly, or even close to the wind. Your ship is not an automobile, and the fastest distance between 2 points is not necessarily in a straight line. If you want to go somewhere directly NW of you, but the wind is coming from the NW, you will be much better off if you sail North the whole distance you need to go north and then turn West and sail the whole distance you need to sail west. Sailing due NW will take longer, use your rations up at a ferocious rate, and rip your sails to pieces. Secondly, this that and some other ship's improvement improve food consumption. Finally, if you purchase Cargo Lockers or I forget the name of the other one, you get a larger cargo capacity, which you can use to hold food. Problem: I keep getting killed by Kraken. How can I avoid them? Check the rumours section, and don't visit seas where they are rumoured to be found. Kraken are attracted to gold, so don't carry it if you are trying to avoid them. Problem: I keep getting killed by Ice Demons/Kraken. How can I fight them more effectively? You need great Commanding and Fencing skills. (How great? I am using 2.5x my captain's level but this may be overkill.) You shoot at the boat so it cannot sail fast enough to escape you. Kill plenty of the crew to make boarding easier. You can sink ice demon ships this way, you will need to duel with the kraken. (is this true? or do I just do this?) The following ship's upgrades help with the boarding (list) the following help with the shooting (list). Problem: I cannot find any Kraken or ice demons to fight. Where are they? Check the rumours section, and head to the seas where they are rumoured to be found. Kraken are attracted to gold, so be sure to carry some. Problem: How do I bury treasure?
(rats, I am supposed to be working and this is more fun. But enough for now. But you get the idea.)
