Writing a Cyber Knight story makes you think of all sorts of random questions. But if it's next to impossible to get in or out of the NBZ why are their so many hotels? It's not like there could be a huge number of travelers who need a place to stay. Perhaps that sex trade is just that booming? In which case, AzTek seem to be the champs as they seem to have more hotels than anybody else.

Since there are other New City Zones I'd assume officials and corporates roll back and forth between them, same with military forces keeping Wastelanders out of the Zones.

I am thinking that these aren't really hotels... more like a vacant room and calling them hotels. Bigger corporations would probably have multiple hotels that are competing against one another and the gangs have empty space that they call rooms.

I imagine all sorts of reasons. Places for shady deals, drug trade, people fleeing trouble, people waiting to cause trouble, people hiding. Even short distance travel in the NBZ can be difficult (see, Escort job) so once you get to where you are going, you aren't likely to come back in the same day and would need a place to stay. People in the NBZ from out-of-town locations (tunnels along the rail lines, from the Boston Harbor islands, tunnels under the NBZ, people sneaking in from the wastes).

Id probaly say the most likely reason is drug dealing south of the bravestar gate. For corp land you need hotels because of the citizens always coming and going (YOU don't leave other people do)

Some of them are flop houses, drug dens, homeless shelters, "no-tell motels", coffin motels and actual business class and up lodging for visiting corporate types.
