In the interest of getting this all out there on the forums (so that others can find it using the search function)
What's the deal with "Exploratory Expeditions" on the scoring system..? Does it have to do with these:
Haven't been able to make it ashore yet in this game. I'm probably missing something. |

I have yet to go ashore on that tile, or any like it for that matter, so it may well be connected to the Exploratory Expedition. Not sure though- my OCD twitches uncontrollably when I pass it, just knowing I can't do whatever it is that it does. Someday  |

If you tap the tile, you will go on the beach where you can bury treasure and run a gathering mission for timber and fresh water.

I'll check it again, fallen, but unless it has been fixed, it's a bugged tile- I've never been able to go ashore on any of those tiles |

I too have never been able to use those tiles. I just patiently awaited the day when Cory announced that they had a purpose for it.

That tile was not intended to be explorable. I've removed it from the map
