Hi everyone! I just bought Elite. I had trouble remembering this or finding it in a forum search. Does Firearm skill help when dodging shots or is it just down to armor and AP? Thanks!

Firearms does not help avoiding ranged attacks. Brawling does play a role in dodging melee attacks.

Why not? Surely if Brawling helps you anticipate and dodge clubs and gloves, why not let Firearms help you predict and track fire? A working knowledge of guns should help you know your enemy's gun's weaknesses, wouldn't it? Of course, it would make Gunslingers and Snipers invincibleā¦

dragolord - I generally disagree. Knowledge of guns is not going to make you significantly better at actually dodging bullets, imho - that would be speed and dodge. However, if you are in a brawl, you're engaged, hand to hand or club to club. Very actively, your Brawling skill is helping you dodge, deflect, or prevent attacks altogether.

Oh, of course: in reality. I hadn't realised that you've been working so hard to make CK perfectly realistic.

dragolord - lol, not exactly It's turn-based etc. But, that is the logic behind why Brawling helps defend against melee attacks and firearms does not.

Yah, I got you, chummer. Of course, your Firearms does determine how quickly you get the ultimate defence: being the last Knight standing.

dragolord - it has been said a good offense is a good defense.

As the Cyber Knight Lonewolf says,
"Who cares what armor they're wearing when I have a Raptor II."
