What if instead it was nerfed by forcing retrained talents to go on cooldown instead of being immediately usable? That would stop it from being spammed for things like upgrade discounts.

Armor components have a 35% chance to be hit in combat over other components, but does the game roll that chance to hit armor only once per round, or once per armor component every round? In other words, if I have multiple armor components will each one roll for the 35% hit chance before internal damage calculation?

Those are only for crew combat.

IIRC the description in the help file says that it improves all attack roles (although it has been years since playing STRPG so I might be misremembering), so artifacts with a veteran officer should help with torps, gunning, and boarding. However, artifacts can be trouble as they give strong boarding combat bonuses to some xeno AI types. Artifacts also make it more likely for you to encounter xenos, so I don't recommend carrying them if you are trying to avoid them.

I'm not sure about Tactics, but Stealth provides a small(arguably negligible) bonus chance to avoid taking captain HP loss in boarding.

From what I recall from one of Cory's livestreams years ago, every trait has 3 possible mutation paths. Events that cause trait mutation will normally select a mutation path from one of the traits they already have. Some events (have a chance to) add specific traits to a random crew member, ignoring mutation paths, such as drawing a positive card in Exploration having a chance to give a random crew member an exploration-related trait.
As for Pox mutations, I'm not entirely certain, but I think it works something like this: there is a special list of Pox mutation traits that are checked against the mutation path of the character's current traits, and a trait that is both on the list and in that character's trait mutation paths is preferred for selection.

I'm 99% sure crew armor doesn't affect damage taken in ship combat.

Javat's job affinity seems useless. Scavenger is not a combat job, and it doesn't have any talents that scale with attributes, so it's underwhelming to select that job for an attribute bonus.

Dreamed I was playing Halo: Reach, but it was unusually consistent to the actual game. My dreams based off video games are typically at least somewhat incoherent and random, but last night was an exception as it was just a Halo: Reach team slayer match. I seemed to be playing fairly well, too, or perhaps my opponents were bad. Picked up a few kills with a headshot weapon (either a DMR or a battle rifle, I don't quite recall), got an energy sword and snuck up on opponents with it using active camo armor ability, and snuck up to an enemy tank to plant a grenade on it.

An alternate way to make bio-poison stronger would be to have it proc every action rather than every turn like bleed does. It would arguably make sense, too, because moving around more means faster blood circulation delivering venom throughout the body quicker.
(Personally I'm not sure that bio-poison needs a buff, I haven't tried a DoT build.)

Maybe Cadar-recruited Shock Troopers should get bonus attributes like how Blade Dancers and Saboteurs get bonus attributes with SSC and Rychart

I love how Commanders are easier to recruit now, although Hawkish sounds like War Hawk, which is already a contact trait name.

I'm digging up this old thread to say I just finished reading Battlefield Earth by L. Ron Hubbard. That author is perhaps more well known as the founder of Scientology, and I've heard there was an extremely awful movie adaptation of the book. I wouldn't blame anyone if they assume it's not worth reading because of that stuff, but I highly recommend it. It is an epic science fiction novel, comparable to Dune in some ways. Some other great works I've read recently are The Mote in God's Eye, Neuromancer, and Snow Crash. The former was mostly intriguing because of its focus on how different to us an alien civilization can be. The latter two were mentioned by LordofSyn on Discord a while back as recommended reading for the cyberpunk genre in anticipation of CKF; I'm glad to have read them to understand the genre better, and I enjoyed them even though I'm more a space opera guy than a cyberpunk guy.

Two ClustersMap seed: st-v02-32-4-179655628 Map image: Pros: This map has an interesting shape to it. Two big clusters of quadrants are connected only through links to the distant quadrant Hunter's Eddy. I'm not sure if I've ever seen a map shaped like this. Cons: Faction power relative to each other is not well balanced. Some starting quadrants have high danger. It would be cooler if there were a more even number of quadrants on both sides of Hunter's Eddy, rather than most being on the left.
