Infection Shot Uses Weapon's Initiative Usable from positions 3, 2 Targets positions 1, 2
In crew combat, Crippling Pistol Attack with -10% Accuracy causes +26 Bio-Poison Damage, -5 Bleed Resist, -12 Bio-Poison Resist for 3 turns
Analysis: Deals high bio-poison damage, coupled with a cripple to resisting it in the same attack. Lacerations also allow for followups from any job that can cause bleeding damage. The downsides are a small penalty to hitting the target and an inability to use it from position 1. This is an alternative bread-and-butter talent to bio-poison slugs, focused more on raw damage and bleed combination attacks rather than making a target slightly easier to hit. Works well when alternated with bio-poison slugs on the same target: Open with slugs to make slightly easier to hit and deal moderate poison damage, followup with an attack that can then land more reliably, add stacking poison and reduce resistance to that poison combo. Note that it decreases bio-poison resist less than snakebite, but could also combo well with that, supposing you don't knock your target out of position with it.

Note this lasts 2 turns instead of 3 like the other Soldier buffs. It also has use by either snubber or rifle soldiers, so long as they aren't moved to the very front position. It has a higher init cost than either of the others, but offers some unique benefits.

What would you think about attaching a 10 turn (1 week) cost to the retrain button? It would slightly put the player at a disadvantage on the XP curve that way. It wouldn't be a fix for total abuse, but it would be a small step to balance the feature. Thoughts?

What if Twitch Surge lowered your accuracy and defense by 5% each for the turn it was used during. It might be tricky to fit in given that it seems to last less than 1 turn currently, but I think if it were possible it would accomplish two things:
1) Make Twitch Surge very very risky as your only approach option if you're both relying on weapon cripples and thinking you can avoid most attacks with your base defenses. 2) Make complaints about Xeno twitch surges slightly less of an issue. If they're twitch surging they're a tiny bit less likely to hit you, at least.
An even better but more complicated piece would be to have ships with engine Agility below 15 take a 10% penalty to both accuracy and defense for 1 turn, but ships 15 and above would not be hit by that. (Or heck, grade it as a 0 to 10% penalty from ship engine agility 15 to 5 or something.)

In crew combat, fancy footwork and flashing blades grants +50% Melee Defense, +50% Debuff Resist to the Blade Dancer for 3 turns. 50% chance to end upon being attacked in melee. (8 initiative)

Buffs Ship with +1 Initiative, +30 Boarding, +10 Range Change for next 2 Turns
This talent is almost solely useful on the offensive to get better/more successful boarding rolls. It doesn't last long, and offers small non-boarding benefits. My concern is that this talent, while not the main theme of the Shocktrooper, is still too weak with a 9 week cooldown. If we're going to have a niche pick here that is only usable once you've hit position one, and then for only 2 turns, perhaps the cooldown could be relaxed to just 6 weeks?

Oh I see Hmm, actually that is a bug in the log 447 is bigger than 1.96 * 216 I think you got nearly 216 rolled but must have 3 of the other stat?

Cool concepts! The extra rerolls are ... fluffy bonuses. I think in most cases, I'd prefer to see them modeled as bonuses to the original roll. They're mechanically pretty different. They add a lot of value when the base bonus is high already but not 100%. They add little benefit when the bonus is low. But I understand if the complexity isn't great.

Something cool for a vignette reward in the future:
"Blessing of Shalun" (or "Gestalt Aegis")
+5 Resilience +10 Plasma Resist Upon failing a death save, reroll the death save one time
This would be useful for any character, but particularly for those with decent death saves that are in dangerous roles in crew combat. It'd be at the expense of things that really grant serious protection or offense though, so the tradeoff would be serious. The plasma resist is just to give it a niche defensive edge against Exo-Scouts, and hint that this is suggested for crew combat use.
