Hello,
Bought the game a few days ago and was instantly addicted. Right now in game #2 (died like crazy the first go), I have managed to acquire three different vessels, because I had a real, REAL big problem letting them go for 20% of the value I put into them.
Purchase a ship for $250,000, dump $120,000 worth of upgrades into it, and then its only sellable as "scrap" for $50,000? If this is a game that's partially based on economics, then I would have assumed there's some sort of depreciation model built in to protect the value of your ship, and of course, INCREASE the value of your ship, for when you put some high dollar upgrades into it.
I should be able to buy a ship for $200,000, buy $100,000 worth of upgrades for it, and have a ship that I could sell back immediately for $300,000 if I decide I don't like the results. Also, depreciate should be based on a maintenance model. Every time you have to do major maintenance, you lose value.
This would give anybody a good reason to attempt to stay OUT of fights, transport only LEGAL goods, because there's a much lower risk to your ship, and its value.
As things are now, you buy a ship for $250,000, and it is magically transformed into the value of scrap --tops-- around $80,000. I understand the concept of driving a new car off the lot, but driving a new car off the lot doesn't destroy 60-65% of its value
For a ship suggestion, all I want to do is build my own. I would like to know how to do this in the game code (if it is possible) or at least include one into it so I can work towards owning it.
I want a $2,000,000 craft, with 60 hull, 50 armor, 128 engines, 180 sails, 300 crew, 200 cargo, built in omni array, 80 guns, and 50 torpedoes.
By "I want", I mean I want to be able to buy a ship that is that tough, that fast, and most of all--water/fuel efficient. The royal cruiser drinks water like a fish and it drives me nuts.
And if possible, is there a link to more specific information on upgrades? Ingame definitions are very vague.
