There are two major bugs that I have found. AOP Elite, most recent update, Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7"
1) Permadeath seems to be disabled in Challenging and Demanding, as when I died on those difficulties, I was taken to the Lucky Escape screen, and at the Palace Hall of Records the message "This Captain is ineligible for Unlocks without a Permadeath flag" appears.
2) Permadeath in Hard also seems to be wonky, as I do not get the above message, but when I die I am again taken to the "Lucky Escape" screen.
Tested on several Captains and starting Ships/Nations.

I'm not sure I understand. What is the bug exactly? What are you trying to do?

I am getting it too. At least -- I have a hard captain. I got killed. Instead of dying, I got 'make lucky escape'. But I am certain that I am playing a captain with permadeath -- I was trying to get a particular unlock with this captain. Do you sometimes get to make lucky escapes even when permadeath is on?

I'm not sure I understand. What is the bug exactly? What are you trying to do? The bug seems to be creating unkillable Captains that should die when they lose combat and are executed/hull shattered/etc

Brutus Aurelius - when you go to your Captain Score screen at the palace, what do you see for perma-death? "The current Difficulty is Challenging (2) and Permadeath is ON"

Did some more testing. I created a new Captain, fought like an idiot until my hull was shattered. I should have died, Game Over. But instead i was taken to the "Make lucky escape" screen and survived.

Brutus Aurelius - yep, got the same result here. Looks like it may have to do with Death Mode + XP rules, which function more like CK but are not documented as such. I have created #AOP-2906 to further investigate.

The description of what permadeath means has been clarified and explained in the Captain Score for next release. There is no bug here, just a lack of in-game documentation of the system, XP Penalties, and the like.

Playing any captain on hard (perhaps other difficulty levels, but only tried on hard): when I check the box to Turn off Permadeath; the hall of records says that if I die, death is permanent. If I leave the box unchecked, it says that if I die, I will come back with 0 XP.
I just purchased the game and wanted to make sure I could get unlocks. Now I'm not sure if turning off permadeath actually turns it on to give me unlocks. Please clarify.

@sliptie - thanks for the prompt, I will look into this again for today's release!
The text formatter may be wrong, but you basically should not check the "Turn Off Permadeath" if you want to get awards.

Ok, thank you very much. And thank you for the killer products. I've spent over a year looking for games exactly like AoP and HoS.
