I feel like this thread has been visited by ntsheep and we didn't even know it. Are you suggesting that I've somehow pulled off a Ghost Sheep in the Shell hack, gave myself administrator access to the forum, derailed this thread, then removed any traces of it, and made a clean getaway. I have many powers that some consider unnatural, but I can't derail a thread without actually derailing it That would be a,,,,,,,,,,,,, Paradox

That's my usual strategy too, except I don't find torps useful for anything. Been trying and am not ready to give up on them, but by the numbers they are absolutely horrible. Cost more to build and maintain, cost more to fire, and do vastly less damage both on paper and in practice. Cory, I see the goal with them,but really the numbers seem way off. Compare any railgun with the same tech level torpedo and the difference is too big in favor of the railgun. I totally disagree. The new KK torpedos really pack quite a punch, exceeding even the heaviest railgun. A Battlecruiser with a tiberia KK torpedo, bounty hunter crew, bounty hunter bridge and torpedo spread will kill any ship in one shot, including world killers. And unlike railguns, they can counter both gun and torpeo attack, and attack from a range if you aren't fast enough to move 1 space from the ship you want to kill. It's more massive and expensive, but well worth it. Ithink you just proved my point that torps need help. If the only one that's viable is both new and super late techno?ogy, then they are borked and need a balance pass. The weight/maintenance to effectiveness (not the same as damage but related to it) should be similar from day one to end game. Not identical, but similar. New players shouldn't be taught game after game that early and mid game torps suck, thus they never build late ones which are good. Though, I've still my doubt's that they van beat fighters on maintenance and damage efficiency. If I ever get a game to last that long I'll try them. Also, over all my games, I've yet to have a torpedo ship of my own counter attack anything. My starter explorer has a few times. Never the templaers or any cruisers I build. They absolutely counter attack with railgun, but I've never seen one shoot back at a xeno missile boat with its own torp. Not sure if there's a stat I'm not buffing enough?

What attack talent are you putting as Primary on the Ship Design?

What attack talent are you putting as Primary on the Ship Design? First is usually barrage then the best torp spread i have, I usually don't bother with a third. Does only the first get used in retaliation strikes?

Does only the first get used in retaliation strikes? Yes. This allows Cruisers to pick a counter-attack role, as well as determine if they will be able to counter attack without Fuel.

Xeno world destroyers vs player transport Max speed 4 vs 3 Full DMG mass driver vs lance Equip both mass driver and invasion weapons, vs one or the other

The amount of damage their mass drivers inflict are also much less than that of standard mass drivers late game.
