I concur with Cory Trese's/ En1gma's idea. A way to start the game a bit later where you already have some talent/skill/attribute skills to allocate would be nice. Before you allocate points, all parties are exactly the same (other than character choice) and playing that segment over and over again to try out new builds serves little value. I would say either after the prologue or in Oskahold would be good places to be able to start. After the prologue makes sense because it is the first time you can allocate points. Oskahold makes sense because you could allocate points and buy initial equipment upgrades.

Definitely some interesting ideas. I can see the argument that once you added a Level 9 starting point, you'd eventually want a Level 18 one as well, as each segment will get old as you gain easy access to it and have replayed it enough times.
Ultimately, because of the branching storyline a complete, organic playthrough would always give you the most control over the ending.
