I think that we posted about the same time. My response was actually to @anrdeamon, not to you. I know that you and Cory Trese live in a magical fantasy world where sleep is not required, coffee has magical powers and numbers turn into sugar plum fairies late at night before they again merge into space marines and pirates.

I didn't mean to offend anyone. Sorry if my previous post was a little abrupt. The meaning I had in mind is that, before bringing "realism" argument, the game playability and consistency should be concerned. I'll let out one example, in a space exploration and simulation game, in order to make high-quality gunpowder, you've had to find certain planet with unique combination of two resources, and then supply it with some other goods, which can be acquired separately. This mechanics was great for promoting exploration and player interaction. However, people repeatedly complained, that "it is too hard to make good!" (in an infinite universe, mind you!), and the new process was introduced to make one of the combined resources directly, as well as the other resource of the combination has been moved to tools (thus now having no impact on the resulting quality). As you can reasonable expect, finding good resources separately is multiple orders of magnitude easier, than a combination of them, and it greatly demoted the importance of social aspect of the game.

Didn't you know? The dwarven beard gives them 3+plot armor. Plot armor is resistant to all forms of damage, common sense and/or logic. And it gets worse when Gandalf gets involved:P

Plus I think Gandalf is racist against Dwarves in the first movie. He keeps talking down to Thorin when they get to Rivendell.
