I saw on a TA2 update a screenshot featuring what looked like Remote Sentry Guns. I think I asked a long time ago but are those against Shalun Law? More specifically, I'm wondering about what the law says about the systems guiding them. I have read many similarities between Shalun Law and the provisions of the Butlerian Jihad from Dune, which says things like "One shall never create a machine in the likeness of a human mind". In the Butlerian jihad, people went really hardcore, even destroying home computers and household appliances. This is why they needed to develop mentats to do the heavy brainwork for most of the series. But from the Templar's point of view, is ANY self-guided weapon system taboo? Not including crew-operated systems like weapons emplacements or tele-operated drone vehicles I mean. In Aliens, the Sentry Guns use an ultrasonic motion tracker to aim and fire. Its a fire-and-forget area denial system that (in the books) can use an IFF interlock (bracelet transponder) to prevent friendly fire casualties. Its a reactive system only, like a guided missile. I would hope a system like that would be AOK.

When I asked this before I think fallen said that they were operated by the engineer who deployed them, thus not requiring an AI, as it is in effect crew -operated.

Ok that clarifies things for me. Things are about to get crew-served in my comic
