Can a Xeno colony ship invade a previously established Star Traders Colony?
I've come under attack by a large, for early game, Xeno fleet and the outcome is far from certain. I need to decide if I should: --1) Stay back in the green squares to maximize the chances of ships surviving. OR --2) Destroy the approaching Xeno colony ship at all cost to avoid loosing the colony.
Having more fun with more aggressive aliens in my third game. Check my signature to see which one.

Only World Killers can attack the system. Xenos use their World Killers to destroy your population, then send in the Colony Ships to occupy.
Depending on what else is ahead of the xeno colony ships, it is advisable to kill them off quickly anyway. The last thing you need IMO is to have a xeno colony shows up behind your lines. Given the ridiculous growth rate of xeno, it will be like a fast spreading cancer....

Only xeno world-killers can invade your colonies. Make sure there aren't uninhabited worlds nearby, otherwise you may end up with some new neighbours... EDIT: I see I wasn't fast enough, hlo!

The Xeno Colony Ship must die. But, since it can’t invade, my top priority is preserving the Templar Defenders--each with a dozen kills--until help arrives. The Defenders’ll fall back to a position where they can repair and refuel while continuing to engage the Xeno. The Strike Fighters are, regrettably, expendable.
Compared to the sluggish Nyxtos Xeno, these Red Zorga are aggressive and fast-spreading. I learned this the hard way, witnessing the Zorga colonize first one system, and then two more as I marshaled my forces. I prevented them from taking a 4th system--a yellow dwarf--which was colonized by Cadar. The battle now rages around this Cadaran Yellow Dwarf and the Zorga Colony one square away.

tenbsmithYour assessment is accurate. Although it weighs heavily on my heart to say this, the strike fighters are built to be replaced, and it is far more important that the TDs are preserved due to super-cheap maintenance and decent combat power, especially with the XP benefits. The best of luck with the red zorga, they are my personal nemesis after they managed to snag two worlds in the middle of my colonies during my first game.

Can't say I ever met a red zorga. My personal favorite are the dead ones.

The only good Zorga is a dead Zorga.

I don't know about invading but the Xenos seem to like to scout with colony ships. My scout ships keep finding them trying to sneak in to my territories 0_o

The best scout is a colony scout. You don't need to make two runs to colonize newly discovered systems.

The odd part is that I have no uncolonized systems,I'm tempted to let them by just to see what they do...

I've been wondering about this, actually. I'd always assumed that Xenos colonise like Orks do - an mass, in a manner identical to their invasions. The distinction implies far more sophisticated development than I'd assumed. Worrying.

Cory Trese and fallen have told us that the Alien are nit just ruthless killing machines, but intelligent ruthless killing machines. I knew that they were intelligent, given the spacecraft and tactics they use in TA, but I just hadn't thought about how organised they might be. No wonder I always lose to them
