Just as well for me. I can wait because it gives me more time to work on my little surprise for the forum

Since it was a busy day, ntsheep had made several clones of himself to get more work done. A group of them in lab coats stared at the screen trying to figure out dayan's latest post. Just as well for me. I can wait because it gives me more time to work on my little surprise for the forum <==========}==θ "I think it's a hidden ETA." said one. "No that appears to be mid to late 80's ascii art. I believe we are looking at some form of sword." said another. "What if this is some form of new paradox weapon and it's both?" said a third. The first two looked at him and both said, "Oh shut up with your damn paradoxes."

So you are saying fallen that "soon" it will end but this isn't an "eta" of the fact that it's going to end. Etas have dates in them. If it doesn't have a date -- or something easily converted into a date, such as 'next tuesday' then it isn't an eta.

Yeah, I agree with John Robinson, Templar Battleforce sounds pretty hardcore. Nice name change!

Agreed. The pivotal part is Templar, of course. Assault fit the first game, as most sorties consist of seizures, rapid strikes, and other... assaults. Battleforce sounds similarly descriptive. Larger force in play, possibly an entire ship's detachment depending on size. I'm not certain of a Templar combat arms unit arrangement, but as a single squad is four, the full sixteen outlined could be considered a platoon. TO&Es could be fun to play around with. Reminds me of my old MechCommander days.

Indeed. If the customization approaches anything like MechCommander 1 or 2, I'll probably spend more time in the armory than anywhere else in the game. Think about it, as a platoon leader. Send your scout squad out to recon the area and spot for your weapons squad and lead trouble back for the Nuptunes to shred. They can cover a lot more ground because you can afford to make te whole squad scouts. You might have one chaplain per squad for obvious reasons; saving your precious tech kits for squads without one.
We're not just talking about using small unit staples like fre sectors, bounding, and setting overwatch. We're talking full blown maneuver warfare here.
I really wonder if there will be valkyrie or titan suits.

ntsheep, dayan, slayernzDid you know that MechCommander 2 was released as sourcecode by Microsoft, and is now classified a Freeware? You can get it from Microsoft as XNA source code, or find the Gold version available as a download from various locations. I don't know which locations are "safe" to use though. Does anyone remember the "Living Steel" role playing series, for tabletop gaming? More big battle suits, with a healthy dose of survival / scavenging.

Mechcommander Omnitech, yep, did an article on it during my stint at sarna.net. No one seems to be building any updates or new material though.

Oh poop! I just realised this is meant to be a thread about the new Alpha phase. Important to the TB's, to help finance the project. Maybe I'll do a search and we can start a thread on MC O.
