Ok I have to ask: If the Templar Explorer only has torpedo attack training, why is it equipped with a light lance as well as torps?

Never looked at that...I suppose its for the +def bonus from the light lance. I do that on missile cruisers when I make them.

Because you can't design a ship without primary weapon. Also that is why I suggested the ability to not install a weapon (if all you need is a cheap explorer or chaff) and that the basic (fuel zero) attack is always available, if main weapon is installed.

The Crew wouldn't get on the ship without a weapon for basic ship defense or repelling boarding shuttles.
So, it has it because it's a valid ship design (all of the canned ships should be.)
The Light Lance adds defense for close in combat.
And no, we won't be adding "no weapon" ships anytime soon -- it just doesn't add enough to the game to be worth the days.
Especially since our redesigned ship designer helps smooth out the application of some of the math and rules.

Maybe a basic barrage attack could be put on it? Not a big deal really, but it might be nice.
