What is cheating? The ability to share unlock codes or saying "I will include all your ideas in a sequel I will later try to sell you." I suppose both could be called cheating and you, boeu, are notoriously brief in your posts. I need some clarification on this one =)

Pmsl. Sorry bout that. But unlock codes to open up awards i see as a cheat. It totally makes the point of unlocking an award useless.

There are a lot of interested parties on both sides -- unlocks tend to be an issue that divide the player base. The "I dislike unlocks" crowd is a small minority but is a vocal one. I had hoped that a code sharing schema would help reduce the negative feedback around Awards will still maintaining the feature for those that enjoy it. We must proceed with caution lest we anger happy players =)

Thats fair enough. We must do what we can to appease the masses lol. Totally understandable for those on the free version. But those on the Elite version should actually attempt to unlock the awards rather than use unlock codes.

How about this: At character creation, or anytime after, we can irrevocably mark this particular character a "cheater". From that point on, that character can access all unlocks (including starting ship/profession, if we mark "cheater" at startup) -- and then a "cheater" icon can show up on the character info screen(s) to shame us for being a no-good rotten cheater. I don't mind. That way, we can ALSO play honest, law-abiding non-cheater characters at the same time, if we like. Whatcha think?

P.S. Also LOVE the shareable codes idea. Just tossing options out there...

This is an interesting debate, I mean labelling a character as a cheater character, for unlocking using codes sounds good at first, but what about the fact that you are not playing against other human players so it doesn't really matter as the only person who will ever see the flag is the so called "cheater". There is also the issue of you can't keep your legitimately earned awards if your data is wiped during an O/S upgrade or Factory reset or for some other reason where data is wiped.
I suppose my thoughts are this is a game where "cheating" only means you are cheating yourself, I'd prefer unlock codes for individual achievements, as if I lost the ones I already have I'd be annoyed, and yet at the same time, if there was only an unlock all code but nothing else I would also be annoyed. I'd like to be able to get back to my own achievements without getting extras for free.
In summary my thoughts are that those that oppose the idea of free unlocks vehemently are those that "may" want to "brag" on the forums about what they've achieved, and have forgotten that this is a game played for enjoyment purposes.
My Point is those that don't earn stuff but get them due to unlocks are cheating themselves not other's & that we all play this game because we like it. It isn't a competition of who can get highest level or most unlocks etc. that's for online player vs player games and this game isn't one of them.
My 2 cents anyway.

My biggest issue is that I have changed phones 3 times since I started playing Star Traders (Twice while playing CyberKnights) and I don't have or want a rooted phone and all the suggestions I read on here on how to save and restore my character just don't seem to work. I agree I am probably "incompetent" but I'd really like an easy way to keep the characters I play when I upgrade or replace my phone.
Given that information I will admit I would like a "save" feature but I love both games and play them often.
