I color Templars not by class but by build.
Plasma Gunners/Snipers/Assault Neptunes/Beserker Devastators= Red
Sargents/Beserker Vanguards/Engineer Guardians = Tan
Paladins/Scout Skirmishers = Blue
Captain is Green.

Agreed -- future variations are looking to change the structure of the armor, helmet, pauldrons & decorations as opposed to try to "taste the rainbow."
