I bought the skin upgrade packs. I'm wondering can it be applied to my existing ships or just ones that I build in the future?
Thanks

You cannot change anything about a Ship, except for its name, after it is constructed. If you want to change the Skin, you must edit the Design.

Interesting question. Would it be more fun if you could change them after they were built?
Maybe change the design skin anytime?
We want this part of the game to be as fun as possible. Open to suggestions.

Sure, anytime would be great I think. Get access to them right out of the box so to speak.

I just bought the game and tried changing the colors on existing ships. I would be nice to be able to do so.

I'd really like the ability to re-color existing ships as they gain XP. I'd make my Champion ships (50+ XP) one color, Veteran ships (20+ XP) another, and leave the Rookie ships the base color. It'd be great to be able to distinguish them at a glance in battle (instead of having to tap them to see their XP).

Totally agree that this would make the game more enjoyable! I find myself wanting to destroy the original Templar ships because they don't fit my color scheme. I don't, because they're awesome... But I still want to

Cory, you should get Andrew to draw up some new skins already

Cory, you should get Andrew to draw up some new skins already I'd settle for more color schemes on the existing skins, which I guess would be much easier.

I do like the idea of changing skins on ships already built.
It would be kinda odd for a templar cruiser to morph into a alta Mesa design overnight, but I don't see anyone who would care...

I'd say colour change but not structural change. Some sort of ranking system would be good, medals and banners on the ship info in the top left corner and coloured bands on the wings or something.

I vote for color change on existing ships. Personally I don't like the red ships on a red grid - takes away from the beauty of the ships. I would absolutely buy a skin pack if I could have my starting ships look that way (I'll probably buy it anyway, but still...)

As a quick side note - I would be equally happy if i could adjust the color of the grid.

E-man - thanks for the feedback! What color would you change to the grid to be?

hmm.. not sure on that one. It would have to stand out against the backdrop but not conflict with any of the items within the grid (stars, ships, etc..) or the green sections of grid. I like the idea of black but I fear it would blend too much with the backdrop. I like the idea of blue but then it might interfere with the green. Orange/Yellow is too close to red (IMO). Green is out for obvious reasons. How about a greyish color? Curious what your thoughts are.
Another thing I'd prefer would be to remove the X's from the center of each grid space. They make the grid too busy which kinda makes it feel like I'm playing on a grid and not in space. I haven't been playing long so I'm not sure if they provide some kind of function?
All of this is purely cosmetic - I don't feel like the look of the ships or grid detracts from the game play itself (which is killer by the way).
