Thanks! I thought it was 5, so thanks for the clarification! Such a crazy boost in power... But if you over use it, your ship balance will play hell with Morale on SS worlds, not to mention politics!

Oh of course- even if I thought I could get a stranglehold on my EP production, I would never risk building too many ships/colonies of any one faction, that's just 4X 101. (It's so damn tempting, though...)

Great point about the invasions, that just flew over my head.
I use XP to my advantage, absolutely! I train my fighters to go over 100XP
When I use a 4 fighter squadron, I use 2 early game fighters and 2 fighters that are equivalent to level3 xeno. I use these level 3 fighters to do the kill. These veterans can go toe to toe with level5 xeno.
Maybe in the Garden, SS's fresh vessels are highly valuable because you will most likely lose a lot of your vessels. Or in smaller maps where xenos are very close and will invade early. But in Huge maps with only 2 enemies, it's not so hard to level up.

Why I still think that Cadar is bettet than Steel Song in ship comparisons, taking everything into overall perspective.
Cadar colonies will get ahead in buildings sometimes idling, waiting fo higher techs to be available. They can then concentrate on build ships. they may be inexperienced off the bat, but Cadar can churn out low level to mid fighters. Even new Cadar colonies can help out if new ships are needed.
Steel Song on the other hand (and other slow builders) are playing catch up in buildings. Their ships may be experienced but it takes more time to produce, and they are constantly distracted when new refugees appear.
True, we should adjust our play strategy based on faction combibation. My point on the thread is that Fast Builders, Javat, and TP bonus faction makes the game a bit easier and have a lower learning curve compare to Rychart or Steel Song, which if it was used correctly and combibed with the right factions can definitely yield a significant advantage depending on the situation.
