ok, so I started my own game, same map, crazy.
Thulun, Cadar, Javat (for benchmark testing purposes)
whew...That was tough, but managed to fend them off for now.
Comparing what I did to what I can see from the screenshot you shared, I took the first 3 yellow giants on left bottom corner. You, tried to match Javat with Red giants which is way over to the right.
Why my approach is better:
In higher difficulty, you cannot afford to waste a single turn. You just have to make the best of what you got in front of you. Moving the first Javat Colony ship to the right, took a few unproductive turns.
What has happened so far:
It is now 3.25AE (turn 129)
Population flooded Thulun Prime, non-stop hab building. Managed to squeez 1 mine but kept up with factory up to 6. delayed factory #3 to occupy pop8 due to colony expansion.
I may have expanded a few turns too early, struggled in income caused by embargo due to Javat Colony ship took too long to build.
Javat Prime built it's first mine after the other 2 colonies had theirs. Priority switched to Javat gets Mining priority. Realized after that Cadar is not involved in conflict, so I split new mines funding between Javat and Cadar.
Got hit with a ton of morale loss from explorations, about 6 or 7.

Hab2
Politics 2
Diplomacy 1
Wished I upgraded to fighters 2 after hab2. Higher tech buildings are out of reach at the moment financially. And Prime Colonies have high quality to begin with for level1 buildings.
Zorga had 3 colonies when discovered. starting colony was top right.
Note: in this map, xeno can start randomly on any corner.
They had 3 combat ships.
Mission: weaken enemy combat ships and deny expansion.
Failed on the expansion part. 4th colony started.
Blocked asteroid coridor on yellow refueling station (6,15) to deny expansion.
Got overwhelmed, retreated down to Salveria. Built 1st fighter, coz this is the time when WK starts coming... guess what, WK appeared while engaging 8 xeno on defensive formation. WK got 1 hit on salveria. Fighter destroyed! Templar defender retreats west to Prime systems. New fighter finished, 2nd WK appeard north of Prime systems. Zorga now controls 8 colonies. WK destroyed! 3 fighters on queue. Explorer destroyed! Templar Defender destroyed! Hoards of Xenos approaching from the east! Fighters finished...killed 3 Bogeys!

Roster: 1 templar defender, 5 fighters (3 with intact hull)

Well, that ended quickly.
Solar war, no money, all ships destroyed.
Started a new game.
