Welcome to the forum and I am sure you'll have a ST veteran pop in shortly and give you a review!

Hull 14 armor 7 engines 17 sails 17 crew 32 guns 20 Cargo 36 Torps 5 Not bad, but it seems too slow for a bounty hunter ship to me. I'd look for a ship that has enough engines and sails to be fast/quick. When I make a bounty hunter I usually don't accept assassination or capture contracts in my starting ship, and I earn money to get a second, better ship (then I take on bounty hunting contracts). You can probably get away with ignoring this strategy if you play on a lower difficulty (I usually play on Insane).

Thank you for responding. I currently am only playing on normal, as i am still new to the game. I have a few upgrades on it that let me use it as a bouth hunting ship, or just for other types of side contracts. I'm not sure if it is just the fact that i am playing on normal, my tactics, or the ship, but i have managed to survive over 1000 turns and am currently at 88.35AE. I still only have used that ship, i never captured or bought another one.

eden0fury, I am hardly a ST veteran, but hey, we all gotta start somewhere Not that I tend I play bounty hunter, but when I do take assassination contracts I make sure I blow them to smithereens in style. MOAAAAAR GUNZZZZ! Ahem. A fast/quick ship definitely helps a bounty hunter (any combat-oriented play style really) although do make sure you watch your fuel consumption, especially as resources get scarcer). FC shouldn't be a big issue on normal, but it does eat into your profit margin. As other general advice, you have probably found the 'unlocks' list. The water-fuel tank in particular I find very useful, and a 'throwaway' captain can be used on challenging to snag it (hopefully) fairly straightforwardly. It is a tactic I used to get the unlock for -151 rep with all factions, although i never got round to throwing him away as he ended up as one of my best captains, now being a xeno hunter (234 crew FTW)

Speed and agility are both medium.

Ok so that's not ideal. A FAST ship will service a BH well, if you battle from Torp and Medium Range. I'd say that's a good move for a starting BH, because you also build in great escape velocity for running from enemies. It's dual wielding. However, for maximum success in battle, you want an AGILE ship and high Warrior. You'll crush the enemy Captain and carry victory in all the hardcore BH mission types. So you are either looking at Fast-Stealth or Quick-Warrior as the two primary builds for BH. There are really viable short range and medium range "Gun Bunny" BH builds as well, but they're a bit more tricky and harder to get started. Realizing you are new, if any of that is confusing please just ask for clarification and I'll response. Forgive my shorthand and ST abbrieves

Ok. I will keep that in mind when designing the ship for my second character that will be on a higher difficulty.

Ok. I will keep that in mind when designing the ship for my second character that will be on a higher difficulty. The key thing to remember is that FAST and QUICK actually work as multipliers for your skills, so having one of them is great. And FAST is critical at long range and AGILE is critical at short range. You can very easily be a monster Torpedo fighter with a FAST/LOW ship.
