I did on the 29th of September to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the release of Star Traders, which was 2010 October 27.
No one really cares about the ads so instead Andrew and I decided to try a totally different way to celebrate / commemorate this week.
So that's what I have been working on for the past week.

It does make the page a bit quicker to load. (which is useful on my phone)
But it's not earth-shaking, no.

I guess anyone who wants can buy 50,000 page views for $7. How kind of them

Ooohh, awesome!
(Just how might "one" do that Cory? Any idea or did it just magically "occur"?

Ooo ... at the bottom of the page there is a link that says "Click here to make this board ad-free".
The one gotcha is that credits applied only affect the current month and do not roll over. This means that if 4 of us went nuts right now and decided to each pay the $7 charge, then we'd have 4x 50,000 page views ad-free until the end of October (like 3 - 4 days depending on timezone).

SlayerNZ -- thus my post that I was making October Ad-Free ... but I posted in September. Seems like a cheap was to steal credits to me, but who am I to question the mighty proboards.

I agree that it's pretty devious, but in saying that, I distinctly remember no ads showing up throughout early October ... maybe they did have a roll-over if you paid up only a day or so before the end of the month.
If that's the case, then you'll be happy to know you have well over 50,000 page views per month. I admit that I probably account for a couple of hundred each day.

We hit the limit much faster than I thought. Hardly made it past the 60% mark.
