OK, quick intro, so skip it if you hate my explanations.
I am going to put it in small text, so that it doesn't become the focus of this post. And for anyone that is worrying about me due to the text below, please do not. This has happened before, and the worst case I have ever suffered is feeling "Itchy" which is a common side effect. Enough of this, though, on to the IDEAS!!!!
I have a bad back--blahblah---causes lots of pain and can never be fixed, only treated with pain meds-----bahblahblah---strongest painkiller available, methodone---blahblahblah--- have to take 5 at a time.
Long story short---blahblahblah----usually take them at a certain time, which is programmed into my phone as a daily alarm---blahblah--- was hurting badly earlier and went ahead and took my meds early---blahblah.
So two hours later, my alarm goes off for "take your meds" reminder and--blahblah---took them without thinking because I'm so used to doing it when the reminder goes off----blahbahblah.
So to wrap it up, I just took 10 UBER strong painkillers (Methadone is given to recovering HEROIN addicts for god's sake!) in the span of two hours, which is a BIG NO-NO!
So that I don't bore you with all the little details and explanations, suffice it to say, that while I am in no danger of a life ending overdose, since I am so used to taking 5 of them, there are a few other things that are making me a little crazy.
Pain meds are a depressant, and they make most people sleepy. However I am not most people.
They HYPE me up.
A LOT
A WHOLE LOT LOT.
Right now I feel like running a Marathon, signing up for a Triathlon, then doing three Decathlon’s before going for the Triathlon, while simultaneously writing 2 full novels, 3 game guides, 13 short stories, 23 poems, and a 400 page cookbook about how to properly prepare earthworm dishes, just for good measure.
My mind and body are going a mile a minute, and if I don't post some of this stuff, I am going to lose my mind.
So that being said, sorry for the different types of ideas and suggestions, but I don't think anyone wants me to make multiple new threads.
So here goes.
Sorry for the long intro, but I felt like sharing!
******************************************************************
NOW FOR THE IDEAS!!!! Be sure to let me know what you think about them! (Damn, I'm HYPER!!!!)
******************************************************************
#1. CORY MAKES MORE MONEY, BY MAKING MORE MONEY FOR US!!!
This one is for the TRESE BROS, to help them make more money, and also, this will help every player who is having a hard time getting through the early parts of the games.
If you care to reference where the idea originated, check the game Oubliette, in the market. It’s a dungeon crawler. What they have done is add a tiny add on program that gives the player some portal gems which allow them to "Save the state" of the game. You start off with 10 and can get 10 more, but this "Pack" costs .99 cents and gives the player 20 more.
I suggest the same thing for both Cyber Knights and Star Traders.
For example.
Lets say, you pay .99 cents, or heck, even 1.99$ and in return you get, for Cyber Knights;
Ͽ 150,000 Nuyen
Ͽ 25 XP
Ͽ 10 "New Identity Program"<|*1|>(Removes all Heat when used. Single use item)
<|*1|>: This is a Suggested Item. I know a lot of people would not like the fact that people who pay more money can get things that they can't, so I would add this only if you add the item to the main game (suggested retail price would be 4,000 nuyen)
And that’s it.
No need to program in a "DLC port" for your program, as this package could only be purchased and used once per phone/player.
I know people have some issues with those games that make you pay extra money, unless you want to play at a disadvantage, but this game is not like that at all!
Cyber Knights can be played and enjoyed and completed without this package. This would simply be a way to help you out in case you are having a hard time of it. You can get nothing in this package that you could not get yourself in the game (that’s why I wasn't sure about the "New Identity" item.) That way, hardcore players can send you a few more bucks, and new players who are having a hard time will have a way to give themselves enough of a boost to get over their "hump" in the difficulty curve.
I certainly would pay extra money for this. You could even have the money and experience be separate packages. The only issue would be that each player would only be able to use the package once. So if you wanted another pile of nuyen, you would have to create a different download.
But seriously, I think just one or two for each game should be plenty. The goal here is to make some extra cash and help out struggling players, not create one of "Those" games.
What does everyone think?
Corey, and Andrew, I'm very interested in YOUR opinions. This should not take more than 1 hour to program together, and could give you a new revenue stream to supplement your efforts.
All you would need is two lines lines of variable code in Cyber Knights and create a few lines of code in the "add-on" that would look something like this (This is not REAL code, but it should be easy to figure out where i am going with the example)
Cyber Knights
The code for the add on "should" be as simple as this;
ADD-ON For Cyber Knights
And that should do it!
Please let me know what you think about the idea, even if you don't like it.
Whew, that actually took a bit longer than I thought! Right now my fingers are getting a bit crampy-ish, and my fingers feel weak and shaky (probably due to the meds, sadly. That's why I do NOT like taking more than I'm supposed to...)
Need a break from all this reading? It's ok. Just take a moment. It's important to read both ideas if you want to help me out. But hey, I understand, it can be hard to read a lot of text all at once. So allow me to help you take a break.
Would you like to laugh?
Then click the smiley below. If you don't laugh, then you might be evil. Everyone else will at least smile. Please, for your computer's safety, make sure you swallow that mouthful of drink before clicking. I am not responsible for any liquids you spit out onto your computer as you laugh.
So allow me to go to Idea Number 2!
#2. D RATE ACTOR MAKES SHORT C GRADE FILM ABOUT CYBER KNIGHTS
I am no actor (well, I AM a voice actor, but that’s a BIG difference), but I had an idea that we could perhaps use YouTube to make a few tutorial videos, or maybe a campy, over the top, or even silly, video about Cyber Knights.
I have an idea for the first one, if you would care to hear me out.
This will be a tutorial for hacking.
I have enough pieces of costumes to put together to be a "Cyber Knight". I will have Jen (my GF/fiancée/wife by common law, whatever you wanna’ call her) use her phone to take a short movie.
I will build a panel mount that I can attach to the wall, that will look like (or as much as I can make it look like) a Global Terminal.
I will mount MY phone, running Cyber Knights, into the mount.
I will have the phone set right to the terminal connection screen.
That way, I can just pretend that the mount I have made IS the actual terminal. I also have a few ideas on how I could actually "Jack In" and plug the connecting cable from the terminal to my "port" in the back of my head. I also have a nifty looking pair of Night Vision Goggles, which for my purposes are in fact, a prototype hacking aid called “NoSVAC-G”, or "Node Security Visualization and Countermeasure Goggles".
Basically, the goggles project the system nodes as a 3 dimensional space, and add a HUD (Heads Up Display) delivering information on network security, security programs, traces, and how much time is left before the system can track me to this particular node, as well as my decoy programs, countermeasures, and custom worms, virus and spam attacks.
In all actuality, its just there to look cool, because we all know that what really makes Sci-Fi work is GADGETS!
After a brief (yes, I promise, BRIEF!) introduction and story setup, I will take you through the steps to collect pay data successfully with the camera close up on the "mount" so that the screen is shown while I do it. Finally, I will play out contacting a buyer and selling the info.
I DO NOT want this to turn into some horrible wannabe movie that YouTube is full of. The main purpose is to have a visual walkthrough of hacking in Cyber Knights so that new players can figure it out.
I think that of all the things in Cyber Knights, Hacking is the most asked question new players have. Thats why I want to do this silly skit.
In the end, I will have the video, a step by step text walkthrough, and maybe, if I feel it is needed and I can get my stupid phone to connect to the computer for screenshots, I will have a step by step walkthrough using screenshots of the hack screen.
I have not totally fleshed out my "character" but im working on it a little now. I just want to think of a good name, and the rest should fall into place. I am being very careful to keep the video about the hacking, not the hacker!
In addition to the other props, I collect many bladed weapons. I have over 10 years experience in duelist style fencing, and as a result, have a small armory of swords, knives and exotic blades.
It just so happens that I do have a set of "Wolverine" type claws. They are actually bladed knuckles, but I was thinking of mounting them on the inside of a pair of cheap gloves, so that they would be like a cyberweapon.
I plan on keeping the video at 3 minutes or less. Again, I am not an actor. I am going to attempt to do the entire video in one take, because I also have not edited videos before. The other reason for doing it all in a single take, is that the whole scenario is a lone hacker trying to make a tutorial for other newbie hackers. That type of guy would not want a whole film crew around him. At most he would have one other person to hold the camera, but I am thinking about having it set up so that I can manipulate the camera, or at least make it look that way, so that it appears more real.
And that is my second idea. (and my last for the time being) My hands are killing me, and I am getting quite tired, after all this editing, typing, and tagging. I will have to save the other 3 for later. (I need to flesh them out a bit more, anyway!)
PLEASE give me some feedback and let me know what you are all thinking of these two ideas.
I am going to wait and see what you think about the video before I start working on it, because that is something that people will think represents the game its self, and not just me. That is why it is important to see what everyone else thinks.
I PROMISE that if I think the video looks stupid, lame, or just plain awful, then I will never post the link outside of this forum. (It’s only going to be here so you all can see it, maybe have a laugh at my expense, or give some pointers)
Hope to hear some feedback from you soon! (CORY, you better reply, mister! ;D And what's up with the graphics I need for the knight's bible? Are you ignoring me? BOO-HOO-HOO!! WWAAAaaaaaagggggggggGGGGGHHHHH!!! )
**Seriously, though, I know you are busy, but those graphics would be a HUGE help.
Thanks for all the hard work.
Later, chummers and chummettes.
