Alien hunting can be a very rewarding experience, with you making millions from capturing just a few Xeno space craft. However, it is a little disappointing when the best ships in the game are off limits to me, considering the fact that they almost always have a glaring weakness. I was just thinking that, maybe, when you get the Templar Commander and the Mechanic in conjunction in ST 2 (or whatever their equivalent officers will be), you should be able to take some of the lesser Xenos craft - not necessarily a flagship-level craft, as that would be WAY too complex for humans to understand and be able to operate without extensive study and research, but maybe a fighter or other small craft.
I understand why the Xenos Void Ships are off-limits (many of them are OP as balls), but, considering the amount of time that Templars spend battling aliens on their own ships (and it would only be logical for them to study xenos craft as well, in order to discern subtle weaknesses and strengths), as well as the skill and experience of a starship mechanic with a solid reputation, it would make sense for a brave Star Trader and his crew to be capable of utilizing Xenos tech.
Also, I understand that an alien ship would likely be shot on sight, but I'm fairly certain that a starfaring civilization would be more than capable of utilizing Identify Friend/Foe (IFF) transponders. Considering the fact that Warships, Pirates, and Bounty Hunters know who you are despite the fact that there would be at least dozens of other Star Traders using the same model of starship, I'd say that there is some kind of device on your ship that tells people who you are, not to mention the fact that a simple scan of the craft would reveal the fact that it was piloted by humans.
