First, many thanks to the Trese Brothers for the great games. I've purchased elite versions and add-ons for several games and have enjoyed them all.
I'm a newcomer to Cyber Knights Elite having just started playing a couple of weeks ago and I'm hooked. The mechanics of the game are excellent.
The Made or Born storyline was fairly good but there needs to be many involved and deep storylines if Cyber Knights is to become a truly outstanding RPG. With all of the storylines that exist from other RPGs and fantasy books going all the way back to the original D&D table top game, this should be achievable. Plot twists, turns, and double-crosses are encouraged.
I'm not a great story writer and the following idea is certainly not deep, but it's a start. Hopefully, other forum readers will propose their own story plots and how the game mechanics can be used to implement them.
Story starts with initial contact of a retired knight or other suitable NPC in a backroom or random encounter. NPC explains that he/she's accumulated some cash and, since he knows it won't last forever, wants to start a business. The NPC wants to hire you to help him make the dream come true, gives you a V-Chip and your first mission to scout an abandoned building and, if necessary, clear it of occupants so he can set up his business there. This first mission could be persuade, intimidate, assassinate, or even an escort mission to relocate a pleading NPC who you'll he uprooting from the place he is squatting.
After initial mission is completed, there should be a series of missions to establish the business. Possibilities include:
Persuade, intimidate, or kidnap a potential supplier who refuses to work with the new business owner. Persuade potential customers to shop at the new store. Intimidate customers of a rival store to stop shopping at the rival store. Assassinate or kidnap a rival store owner. Protect the new store from an attack by a rival store owner. Raid a rival store. Steal a package. The possibilities are many.
After completing the mission series, a reward is given which could be a permanent percentage discount for buying from the newly unlocked store, a permanent percentage bonus when selling to the store, cash, special items, special contacts for other mission set storylines, etc.
There can be a business development mission series for each faction, tailored to their preferred types of missions. That's 10 new storylines! Perhaps one of the factions has a storyline which double-crosses the player or maybe even presents the player with an opportunity to double-crosses the business developer.

darthripper - thanks for the great post and welcome to our forum! Thank you for your support, and I hope you will try all 6 of our games, and #7 which is coming very soon (Templar Battleforce). We've always hoped to add more storylines to Cyber Knights, but more and more, this looks like a reality that will only be achievable in CK2. I love the suggestions, they're great for future developments. The next big update for CK will include the drone master.

Just thought of another hook to begin a business developer story. Player encounters a burning building, chooses rescue attempt and succeeds, and receives dialog from one of the people he rescued about wanting to start a business. Help yes/no? If yes, player received a V-Chip to the business developer.

Here's an idea for another storyline. Power Play. NPC wants to become the leader/boss of his faction. Player can choose to take NPC's missions to unseat the current boss or can choose to inform the current boss of the NPC's treachery and then take missions from the boss to thwart the coup d'etat.

Storyline suggestion: Star-crossed Lovers. An NPC explains that his child has fallen in love with someone from a rival faction and hires the player to put a stop to it before his reputation is damaged. Player meets the lover and is told that the love is real and he/she wants to get married. Player has choice to carry through with parent's mission or to help the lovers. Lovers missions include Smuggling letter or gifts between the lovers, Escort a lover into hostile territory for a secret rendezvous/wedding proposal, obtain wedding rings for the lovers (purchase, steal, etc), Safe house protection for the church during the wedding, Negotiate sanctuary for the lovers with a 3rd faction away from the parents, Escort the lovers to their new house. Reward is a safe house.

Storyline idea: Spy Rescue
Important NPC has been captured while on spy mission. Player is asked to locate the spy, free him, help complete the mission if the spy has failed, recover data files, and either Escort the spy to safety if he was successful or Assassinate the spy if he had failed to complete the mission before being captured.

Idea for storyline: Research Procurement.
An NPC Researcher hires the player to Purchase/Steal/Negotiate/Intimidate to acquire numerous components for a secret research project. With the completion of each mission, the player gets a larger reward. After returning all of the components, the researcher tells the player he is defecting to a rival faction and needs an escort. Player can choose to hand over the researcher to the home faction (cash reward, reputation bonus with home faction, and reputation loss with rival faction), Escort the researcher to the rival faction (larger cash reward, reputation loss with home faction, and reputation bonus with rival faction), or Assassinate the Researcher (acquiring the unique secret research item for the player but loses reputation with both factions).

Idea for storyline. Suspected Treason.
NPC suspects treason from member of his faction. NPC believes that the suspect has been stealing from his faction and plans to defect to a rival faction. NPC hires player for series of missions to monitor the suspect's activities. Then NPC tells player that he's sure that the suspect is guilty and orders an Assassination. As soon as the player completes the assassination, the NPC who hired him appears, thanks the player for his hard work in eliminating his rival, explains that the player knows too much and could incriminate him (the NPC) for treason, (wait for it....Double-cross!), and the NPC and his friends attack the player. If the player escapes, the NPC and his friends attack again. Only exit is to defeat the traitor.

Great posts all round! I've bookmarked this thread for CK2 research and to consult when adding new encounters to CK1.
Happy playing, Knight!

Instead of waiting to include these missions in CK2, perhaps a paid add-on (in reality a special update) called Mission Pack 1 for CK1 would do the trick. CK1 has outstanding game mechanics already and some colorful missions would put it over the top. Great posts all round! I've bookmarked this thread for CK2 research and to consult when adding new encounters to CK1. Happy playing, Knight!

We love the idea of a Mission Pack for CK1.
Right now we are a two person company and we've got to focus on the games that keep us in business.
If Google featured CK, or it increased in popularity we'd definitely return to focusing on it.
For more than a year CK was our #1 game and we put lots and lots of time into it.
The mechanics, which I also love, are tied to the engine that CK uses and that engine isn't very good at graphics.
I think one of the reasons that CK sells so poorly is the graphics -- which is why CK2 is so exciting.
You can trust that we would rebuild the mechanics we love into an engine that can do graphics people will buy.
If it was a hit, we'd make Mission Packs until the cows came home.

Good point fallen -- the things we really listen to beyond Google are ... Patreon and user Reviews. If you wanted to post a five star review on every game saying "I like CyberKnights" that would be fine. Patreon is also where we hold votes for what to do next with games like CK and TA.

Here's another story idea: faction leader hires player to assassinate a rival faction General. The problem is that the General had numerous soldiers surgically altered to look just like him so the only way to be sure that the player succeeds in the assassination is to kill them all. Player kills one per mission. After 4d3 are killed, the player is told that the General went into hiding after the first decoy was killed and he has been located. Player pushes through 3 or 4 sewers fighting soldiers along the way before finally reaching the General and his bodyguards who all look like him. Player wipes them all out and the mission ends.

Thanks for the welcome! I've played Star Trader on and off for 2-3 years. A couple of months ago, I played Star Trader 4X. Now it's CK1. When I finish CK1, I'll try some of your other games. darthripper - thanks for the great post and welcome to our forum!
